Hmm the banner - I have never seen players from the Reserves called onto help hold up a banner? Trainers and officials fair enough but players???

Demonstrates the esteem they are held in by their peers!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Even moreso the esteem they aren't held in by their fans.

Fair enough not denying that but you think enough supporters would feel the same rather than having to rely on players who just played?

Yes, I saw it that way (up yours OTR!). North did appear to have two players on him at one point. I thought it interesting that the North coach afforded Kirkby that level of respect, given the disparity between the teams.

Sadly, we have many supporters who would scream blue murder if there wasn't a banner, but not many want to help. Left to too few too often. And those few get burnt out.

He spent most of the game 1 on 1 with Miles - occasionally a second defender came over to help in the contests but it was mainly 1 on 1 IMO and having watched the repplay in full also? The same applied to Glenelg who played a lose man across the last line and for most of the first half we kept bombing it in to our only tall fwd in a 2 on 1 contest. No doubt Francou showed him the respect by keeping our best defender on him - if the ruck difference kept the score closer Miles may have been moved into ruck but wasn't needed.

"Poor Bastards" was incorrectly spelt though. It came out "CONGRATULATIONS".

If you watch the ABC coverage of the banner, you will see it pre photoshop. It clearly shows "ROURY".

Hmm I saw that too KR on the Snouts Site and also checked the replay - apologies for doubting your original post!

Show how bad a day the GFC had right from the start!

LMAO, gold.
Gotta feel sorry for the players though, playing their 150th game and they'd be thinking the fans care so much that they can't spell their name right and the reserves have to hold up the banner, why would they bother trying?
