How can you call it a State game?

They got 498 more than I thought they would.

The powers that be concern me Olsen , Davies, etc are tosser's with hidden agendas.(There no Basheer and Wicker) It should have been SA v WA or VIC at the parade on a Friday night with promotion. Well done SA played good footy. Sh*t crowd at a sh*it venue.

Why should it have been SANFL v WAFL or VFL? NEAFL have to play one of us, and it was our turn to play them. Next year it will be someone else

Yes we had to regain some cred against 2nd rate opposition after the Magpies embarrassed SA in the Foxtel Cup!

Wont be the Vics, they've got us. Would have to be one of the leagues Queensland / NEAFL are accustomed to over the last decade or so (WA, Tassie, ACT or their other conference.)

If they want bigger crowds then the league needs to offer some better incentives. For example, given the league and the State Team are sponsored by West End make the admission price $5 for adults and hand out a free beer voucher or two - even if it is for SANFL Club members only. God knows we spend enough money each of us which supports not only our own clubs but the whole comp overall.

Not sure about certain ovals at certain times finding car parks is hard .
Get to norwood oval early for a night league game car parking is very hard .

Having said that yesterdays crowd parking would have been easy at any ground on a saturday .
I know walking home from Richmond my street was full from game goers ;)

However, while today's match wasn't much of a contest, we were seeing the best of what the Sanfl has to offer. It surprises me that the fact that the state team is playing alone doesn't interest people at all - after all it's only once a year.

There's no reason why playing for South Australia should mean less than it did back in the old days. If only 500 supporters of each club attended, the crowd would be half-decent. I just think it's a pity that the reasons offered for state footy dying off are so pathetic.

Anyway, it's over for another year, everyone will I guess be happy about the league games resuming...

RB, I'm all for rep footy, but this game was a pointless exercise for us. Sure, we put the state guernsey on and flexed a bit of muscle but seriously, you think this isn't a reason for state footy dying in SA? I think we should play WA, Vic and no one else. Put Tassie, the NT and QLD up against NEAFL until they can at least be classed as an equal. Till then, I'll call it a waste of time.

The chance for the NEAFL to play us would've been excellent for them. They see where they're at and how far away they are from our standard.

What it did do was accurately reflect the interest in state footy when pitted against lower (if not almost unknown) leagues.

I'd be interested to know firstly if it was televised in the NEAFL areas and secondly if it rated.

I think perhaps the games against the Neafl etc. should be away in future.

Just saw some photos of the game posted on Facebook. Judging by that, 1498 was optimistic.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
