Great effort by Jessie Aish after parting with Norwood previously. Persistence pays off for him. Hope he goes well.

I hope he has worked hard on using his non-preferred side. As a junior, the time he created meant he barely needed to use the "other side"....this might see him come unstuck at this level if it hasn't improved.

Him and Johansen would both be in XXXS guernseys?

Now they're a bunch of mid table scrubbers I'll barely mention them. :D

Can't wait for tonight, looking forward to it a lot.

Hoping Pfeiff smashes someone (legally of course) so I can hear Beenreal's head exploding in a miasma of PAFC One Club babble.

I keep driving past this electronic sign on Port Road: 'Redlegs v Magpies 7.40 Thursday' etc. You don't see much of this sort of advertisement for the SANFL but plenty of punters would have seen this one. I think a prominent sign on a busy road is likely to be far more effective than an ad in the paper etc. Good on Norwood for really getting it out there that there was a game on; hopefully a good crowd'll rock up.

Good point, I couldn't help but notice it too and I thought at the time that it would have been seen by plenty of people.

There is one on South Rd advertising the West v Centrals game tonight.
Great initiative by the clubs

Yes, have noticed both over the last week. Perhaps done by the SANFL? Anyway, it's good advertising. Hopefully they continue to trial this throughout the season.

Good first up win against woeful opponents.
Defensive pressure was great but Port played into the trap of going backwards and sideways most of the time, their overuse of the handball seemed to bring them unstuck often aswell. Probably only had a few shining lights, McKenzie looked ok and Miklejohn went ok in the ruck.
Norwood had winners all over the ground, Thomas got plenty of it but his disposal was average at best. Really impressed with Wilson's debut, showed some glimpses of genuine class, also liked his brother in the Ressies. Think both will offer us a fair bit this year

Port's game plan was very ordinary.

Maybe still adjusting to a different style? They seemed to make a few unforced errors which makes the style hard to judge in its infancy.

In 2010 Norwood were smacked by the Bays in Round 1 by 80 odd points but became better drilled as the season wore on.

Was that just a case of the Premier playing a bottom team or is it a sneak peak at a heartless, directionless reserve side mentality where the players and coaches aren't their clubs best anymore.
Was there any pride in that effort I wonder?
The spectre of AFL already hanging heavy around McGregor's neck if that's what's on offer this season!
