As much as it pains me to say it, off field Glenelg have pulled themselves up and definately have something to be proud of unlike whichever Port you want!
I'd hate to think how well they might be going if Godden had said yes to them last year and left the Eagles.
Plus Mickan had them really going hard at it for quite a stretch a few years back.
At least the Bays haven't lost sight of the real prize ( SANFL Flag ), the Magpies have lost the hunger to dominate as they did last century :o

OK, someone has to say it. In the 21St century, the REAL prize in football is an AFL Flag.

And anyone trying to convince that any club would prefer an SANFL Flag over that is seriously kidding themselves.

no, it's not if you don't follow the AFL.

BINGO!!!!!!

Im a Centrals fan and couldnt give a Brett Duncanson about AFl flags/foxtel cup.

I have been lucky enough to be at the MCG for 3 Geelong Premierships (you might remember a close game in 2007?)in the last 6 years, and whilst they were excellent, NOT EVEN CLOSE TO HOW I FELT LAST SUNDAY!!!!!!!!

For me the real prize always was and always will be The SANFL Leauge Premiership!

APPLAUSE!!!!!

To clarify schultzy Port fans don't really give two craps about port Magpies winning another flag and haven't for over a decade.

Point noted!!

The lies surrounding ports re-unification continues to exceed expectations.

Looks like the real motives for the merger have been uncovered.

And what a Joke it is that the Magpies are miles closer to a Flag then the Flowers are
They probably haven't a player that would get a game for the Swans or Hawks, maybe Boak, maybe?!

and that's the very problem, no point rabbitting on about changing coaches & coaching staff, if you don't have the quality of players, you ain't going nowhere.

Sorry to be a pain and get this thread somewhere near its original topic, but has there been anything confirming Gotch or any other Power assistant taking over. Latest version I heard had Brad Gotch going back to live on Melbourne and working for Port as an analyst of upcoming opponents. Anyone heard similar? Where does this leave OnePort's coaching structure? Other options as Maggies coach?

As the players not selected for the Power are currently spread over the eight other clubs what benefit is to Port to have a Power assistant coach the Magpies?

Unless I've missed something, I'm assuming the Power aligned draftees are distributed to the nine SANFL clubs via the mini draft as always?

This is where people read what they want to read. I said clubs not fans, you know, these same clubs that clambered over each other to get their hands on the 2nd AFL License in 1994. Remember Glenelg/South, Norwood/Sturt, The Cartel. Centrals even offered to fold completely and reinvent themselves as an AFL, club.

When this "one club" merge happened it was stated, it was done purely for "off field" reasons i.e to save on admin. costs. Obviously it also helped the Power get the gaming license. It would be pretty hard to argue that reducing a clubs off field costs wouldn't also assist the club on field, by re-distributing funding. Now we hear all this propoganda about aligning the Magpies more closely on the field, with coaches and the ultimate aim of receiving all the "mimi-drafted" drafted players. I knew when this was all approved it was the thin edge of the wedge and they couldn't be trusted.

All I've heard is a load of bitching from SANFL clubs about how the PAFC is inconveniencing them with the use of OUR players. Simple answer, don't mini-draft them and let the Magpies pick them up. I for one am sick of seeing players paid by Port Adelaide playing against Port Adelaide.

I'm sure it's not deliberate how the Power conntrol their players in the SANFL. Yeah don't draft them so Port Magpies have more mini draft players that are being paid by the Power and therefore have more room to pay other non-AFL listed players. Port Magpies aren't the Powers reserves side. As i said this was supposedly never to provide an on field advantage to the Magpies, which is what they're now trying to derive. Sneaky and untrustworthy, still the norm.
What is there now, two "Magpies" players, playing for the Power?

Then I'm all for it.

I for one am sick of Norwood turning de-listed AFL footballers into better players and not receiving money for them, Pfeiffer, Phillips et al.

That's manifestly unfair and no amount of your mealy mouthed b*llshit can justify it.
