To lose with 7 more scoring shots is unacceptable and would be burning in the guts of the Eags.
North keeping Lewis Thompson and Eagles losing Luke Thonpson made a difference as Luke has performed well all year against opposition key forwards.
On a positive note, youngsters such as Goldsworthy, Sumner, Culley, Hall and Fitzgerald all stood up under finals pressure.
Well done to Cicca, Shirley and Grieger, great servants of the club who will be sorely missed.
Congratulations to Angus Poole who won the Reserves Medal as announced back at the club tonight. Hopefully he can take the next step in 2013.
Eagles need to recruit wisely for 2013 with probably 4 key players needed.

Ohh spare me you whinger! It is Lewis Johnston who has played all but 1 game with North and didn't a bloke named Knights play for the Eags!

If you knew your facts, you would realise that Luke Thompson has played all but 2 games for the eagles this year, that was my point. Let me explain it to you in simple terms so you can understand, if we had Luke T, he would have had a better chance of nulifying Lewis Johnston than the players we had today. We didn't, so we struggled down back. What has Knights to do with it?

I took your post to be having a crack at Johnston not being taken by the Crows whereas Thompson was. You still had Knights if it was an AFL player reference.

yep, got there half way throught the third quarter and if they'd kicked better things might be different.

Having said that North looked much better overall and deserved the win.

2012 Elimination Final - North D Eagles Post Game

The way the first game was played compared to the second, I am a little bit confident of the roosters, especially after last week. Bring on the dogs SMAC

They did have more scoring shots but a lot of those points in the last quarter were one after another I think there was 4 or 5 in a row. Obviously if one of those was a goal the whole thing changes the ball goes back to the middle etc.

North I think were definitely the better side there were a few diabolical decisions that led to Eagles goals as well. When Bennett got done for running too far just before half time and when they showed the replay he only took 10 steps after his bounce. Eagles kicked a goal straight after that, then Alleway got given touched goal when it clearly wasn't and Eagles went straight down and kicked a goal.

Agree re the Bennett decision. Was very surprised he got pinged for running too far!

What was peoples thoughts re the Cicolella free kick where he dived in and won the ball against the North opponent and the North player was given a free kick for too high? I was disgusted with the decision at the time as I thought winning the footy is what it should all be about, but haven't seen any replays.

Overall I thought the umpiring was actually ok.

That was a shocking decision. We counted out his steps AFTER the bounce, from the replay up in the RPH commentary box, and he took all of 11 steps. Obviously the umpire just didn't see him take the bounce. Would have thought that one of the other 2 umpires would have seen Bennett bounce it first and could have come in to override the decision and call a bounce down.

The Cicolella one on Clisby shouldn't have been paid, but I can understand how the umpire got it wrong. Clisby did have his head down over the footy, and Cicolella didn't miss his head by much.

The Bennett one, the umprie blew his whistle two steps two early, I thought he kicked it right on his limit. The cicca one was a bad decision too, paid by the umpire on the wing who wouldn't have had a clear view of the North players' head. Both of these had an impact on the game as we got a goal from the former, but imagine the momentum if we had kicked a goal from the latter after such an insipiring bit of play, still with a while to go to the scoring end?
Apart from these two decisions I thoguht all up the umpiring was very good for a game that was so highly competitive

Remember now you are allowed to run 15 metres with the ball not 10. Thus the Bennett decision was clearly wrong. I thought that he only took nine steps, even 11 is way under the 15 metres given that the general consensus is that a step is a metre.

Someone said that is was Avon who made the mistake. An umpire of his experience should never make that mistake. I thought at the time that it would turn the game knowing North's traditional brittleness. It was a potential 2 goal turnaround. It looked at though Mayes would have ran on to Bennett's kick and ran into an open goal.
