Was at a wedding yesterday afternoon so couldn't make it, but was following on my phone as much as I could. Saw McKenzie had 21 touches to half time - no surprise he stepped up after the passing of Bob Hank. Fitting that the whole club performed well this weekend. Hopefully we can start winning more often than losing for the rest of the season.

Without meaning to sound disrespectful, it shouldn't take a death for the players to get their acts together. North need to see a shrink.

Umps don't make 7 goals difference Cracker.

I didn't listen to all of the game, but what I did listen to the commentators mentioned poor decisions both ways

Listen Cracker, the umps had nothing to do with the final result. North were PATHETIC and inept. Very hard to pick a best for North, they were shocking for all of the last three quarters. Umps were performing to their usual standard

I agree. The Eagles haven't lacked effort the last couple of weeks IMO, unlike some of the shocking games earlier in the season. Just haven't been efficient and had lost the confidence to know how to win. I presume they backed up some of that effort with some efficiency yesterday.

Also have been crying out for someone to kick some goals and Zac Fitzgerald kicked 5 in his first game of the season. Makes a difference when you have someone you can kick to.

One thing I have noticed when The Eagles lose, they always approach the goals slowly & cautiously & along the flanks, chipping the ball about & looking very unsure & indecisive.

This just highlights Kane's exceptional effort yesterday.

In James Allan's 48 games since Round 1, 2010 (as far back as I can go)....

Lowest disposal tally:
9 Round 12 v Eagles, 2012
15 Round 19 v Port, 2011
16 Round 12 v Glenelg, 2010
16 Round 17 v Centrals, 2011
18 Round 6 v Centrals, 2010
18 Round 17 v Sturt, 2010
23 Round 8 v Norwood, 2010
23 Round 14 v Sturt, 2011
25 Round 5 v Glenelg, 2010
26 Round 9 v Centrals, 2012

Which is a far cry from his highest:
45 Round 13 v Glenelg, 2011
44 Round 23 v Centrals, 2011
44 Round 5 v Eagles, 2012
43 Round 4 v Eagles, 2011
43 Round 21 v Sturt, 2011
42 Round 10 v Eagles, 2011
42 Round 20 v Norwood, 2011
40 Round 16 v Port, 2010
40 Round 6 v Norwood, 2012
39 Round 3 v Port, 2011

Well a week is a long time in footy hey ;)
I arrived early at unleash oval and was greeted with the news as I walked up the jarman stand steps .Grocke is out with a leg injury .
Spirits dropping even further I started to watch the seconds game.
Eagles seconds haven't won a game since round 1 .Now they didnt win but hells bells they actually doing well before half time .At 3/4 time they were 25 points up .And north fought back as we all knew they would but then the Eagles came back !!! Ok they still didnt win but they didnt lose they showed a spirit not seen since round 1 .
Setting the stage for the league game .What I didnt know till latter the guys had a meeting mid week .Whatever they said the eagle awoke .
Umpires yes they were there some shocking decisions was interested to read above the closeness of the frees. Day Alleway wrestle at the start makes me wonder when the umpire saw it becasue both were having ago at each other !!!
Ok firstly macca to a midfield onball role finally freed him up to be mor dangerous .Fitzy back that certainly put norths back line off .Along with no Grocke somehow that put norths defenders off .
Sumner continued to improve like last weeks effort . Ellis yoeman has to be played in the league six bone crunching tackles certainly staked his claim.
Fitzy 5 goals he looked shaky but picked up the pace as he got going .staples battled well and was a good foil .
Kane what a pick up best pick up of the year.
Well what more can you say the spooners beat a side in the five !!!
Weeks a long time in footy .

How much did North beat the Eagles by earlier in the season?

Its a pretty big turn around between matches!

Round 12 @ Prospect - April 21, 2012

North - 19.7 = 121

Eagles - 5.12 = 42

Roosters won by 79 points

So that is a 124 point turn around....

Forget the turn-around on the scoreboard. The turn-around in performance is even more pleasing. At Prospect we were aboslutely inept for 4 quarters. Yesterday we played good footy for 4 quarters. Granted that North were at best average yesterday, we played well enough to win many Elimination Finals.

Come off it. 25 frees to 23 and the Eagles won comfortably.

Great win by the eagles. I said on another thread that I was confident the eagles would win and thought that Fitzgerald would make a difference. Anyway Parry played a huge game, Powell showed his usual desperation and commitment, Goldsworthy was very busy and would have been high in the best had he kicked straight, Sumner, Raymond, Smith, Kane and Thompson excellent.

On Smith, I hope the eagles hierarchy take not of how much of a difference it makes to our team when we have a player who can actually take the ball and carry it. The typical midfielder the eagles recruit is a slow, 'in and under' player i.e. Shirley, Rowntree, Eddy, Kane etc. This must be the type of midfielder we target next year as Smith clearly will be a regular with the Crows.

However the win should not mask some of the flaws that were again clearly evident yesterday.

Staple - yes he kicked 3 goals but these were in junk time when the game was already won. What is wrong with his hands? I lost count the number of times he was on a lead and dropped the ball. Its embarrassing that we can be playing a forward who is unable to mark the ball in his hands. He needs to be dropped till he finds form and with Fitzgerald kicking five, at least there is pressure on him now. When Grocke returns he needs an extended spell.

Day - Very average as well. I thought he got touched up by Alleway but we were very lucky Alleway can't kick straight. He probably should have had 4 goals. Day also proved once again he cannot play Full back. He has to be in the team as a CHB. But if he is not playing well, he needs to be in the reserves.

Mckenzie - I'm staggered that people were putting him in the our best players. He can't fault his commitment and maybe I'm being harsh given he is really on ly part-time now but I thought he fumbled and overan the ball all day. Even if he decided at the end of th year that he wanted to play with the same arrangements I think the eagles coaches need to make the hard call.
