Well done on being equal on points with West and South. The battle for fifth is shaping up to be very exciting.

As it happened it didn't and your mob achieved exactly the same as my lot did last year, jacksh*t.

No we achieved to break the record for most consecutive GF's in the HISTORY of the SANFL.

Your team really did acheive nothing zero, zilch and your only enjoyment for the year was watching a side that you dont even support, thats pretty sad dude.

Love how you're celebrating a losing GF.
I'll let you go and enjoy your win against south now.

Dude.

I like to call it celebrating an achievement that no other club in the SANFL has came close to achieving.

He is a big lad but didn't show anything skill wise and certainly didn't look to have a great fitness base. Dropped 3 or 4 very easy overhead marks and looks gangly and uncomfortable out there.

He may need another couple of weeks in the 2's to find his feet but I don't think he showed anything more than an injured Dallas Hill could offer.

He was extremly impressive in the reserves last year and was a tad unlucky not to get a game last season. Shows amazing composure and just does the basics real well. His a tad undersized for a tall defender but without knowing as fact i think he would be one of the stronger lads at the club. His height may be the only thing that keeps AFL clubs away. A few fans last year even suggested he could be a 200 game player for the club ;)

Real good lad to boot very down to earth. Anyone know what junior club he's from?

I guess an okay attendance at Elizabeth today considering it was on TV and the distance to travel for South Adelaide is the longest between any two clubs in the league at 53kms.

Crowd for this game - 2254

Funny these Norwood supporters are talking like they're in the GF already then having a crack at us for being good enough to be a chance to win a flag with 20 seconds left in the season. That losing GF must still sting. Next thing you know they'll start crying about Callinan's bump on Philips again then tell us how that MONSFAW nonsense was the catalyst. Funniest thing the rest of the comp heard, how some acronym actually helps a team. And no, we don't care what it stands/stood for because it'll be lame and our attempts at guessing what it is will be far wittier and more entertaining.

I have faith that a side that's won 9 flags in 12 straight grand final appearances will yet again be competitive. Your club just dreams of getting there once and then fades away for a bit.

Looking at a replay of the telecast, the commentators talked a bit about this, generally of the view that it was a bad call. Maney was certain of it, and in the words of 8 time Premiership player Matthew Slade "I thought the rule was if you're under pressure then you're allowed to do that."

Not unanimous, but seemingly the majority view on here as well.

Not in a 100 years. You obviously don't understand the rule, just like Dey.

If I remember correctly, it wouldn't be the first time said umpire has made a technical error in front of goal. But did he on this occasion?

I'm not trying to pick a fight here but, for what it's worth, here is the rule from "AFL - Laws of Australian Football 2012" (840 kilobytes):-

15.7 Free Kicks — DELIBERATE RUSHED BEHIND

15.7.1
A Free Kick shall be awarded against a Player from the defending Team who intentionally Kicks, Handballs or forces the football over the attacking Team’s Goal Line or Behind Line or onto one of the attacking Team’s Goal Posts. In assessing whether a Free Kick should be awarded under this Law, the field Umpire shall give the benefit of the doubt to the Defender.

My understanding is that, unless there's scope in provisions then it comes down to interpretation (local or otherwise). Having since had a closer look, I'd say there's little room for any "doubt" that Sandery...

As I recall, an "under pressure" element has been suggested before on this forum when this has come up. Is anyone aware of a local variation, or another rule, that might dictate or imply this element and, therefore, that Dey had actually erred?

Like I said, I'm not picking a fight here. Just trying to get the facts.

Thanks people.

Okay, point taken.

Local footy started up as well so that would have taken a few fans away from the game.

The crowd not great, not disastrous. One hundred less than eagles/glenelg about 250 less than north/west night game and 1,000 less than port/sturt last week.
Well done to the south supporters that made it along.
A concern we lost the clearances. South have a strong midfield. I thought our defence was great and our delivery into the forward fifty costly. If mcernan plays next week they could "push" the bays.
Great to see hardy taking strong grabs, also helped Matty play well and help turn the game. He's not a kpp so the sooner a hynes or obst are back the better westy will be. Disappointing to hear some bag the guy, it gets noticed and I didn't think it was something our supporters did. I'm glad the guys not playing ammos for more money.
