Well done Norwood but as mentioned some quality out for Centrals . They do seem to get injuries at the right time .

mate if you understood the demographic that attends Central games you may have an idea. Anyone that was there did you notice the northern end to be less than normal thats the folk that were attending local club function rather than Centrals. Lucky for us it was probably double than what Sturt got at their game.

Like i said Hooray come watch a Downs/Vale/Grove/Gardens derby and you will see a bigger crowd than a Sturt, West Eagles South game FACT!

Sounds like a hoot . Anyway as your club would understand you are competing for crowds with these clubs . As your club also understands and has publicly stated your club is not attractinng as many supporters as they should considering their amazing success. So save your demographic , soccer, darts , baseball (have you got it out there ? ) and basket weaving excuses . If your not drawing a crowd now what happens IF (I strees IF ) you drop down the lader.

If we struggle we may attract more people. I know lots of people who dont bother because they see the result as a forgon conclusion, South are 5hite ill rather go watch paint dry is a typical type response from the causal fan. I tried to get alot of mates to come tonight but they wouldnt because they would rather just wait until finals.
If Sturt ever have 12 years of dominance they may feel the effect of the 'casual' supporter who loses interest.

....or they're simply too polite to tell you they're not really your mates......

Another disappointing effort by NW against CD
Once again the NW forward line ended up with a modest return, this time of 9-12 against the dawgs
Bassett will need to address this recurring inability to score against this mob

I also see that arguement whufc. It also goes for casual supporters when you lose ,something Sturt have experienced . A fair dinnkum footy fan would admire Sturts survival against many many things .Most clubs couldn't have survived and been as competitive as Sturt have been over the last 15 years considering their obstacles . But we aren't talking about Sturt ,we are talking Centrals .

Not quite sure how you can make an assumption on crowd figures, judging purely from the nature of people's posts on a forum?

It was actually a reasonably healthy crowd out at the Ponderosa, with good Norwood representation in support as well...

I think CDFC would have been pleased with the attendance, they were hoping and catering for 5,000 and I'd suspect there was between 5,000 and 6,000 there tonight.

Probably read the whole conversation to get a feel. Then it would be wise to not contradict yourself in you're post , you have a habit of doing that .Fancy saying don't assume things but then you post an assumption.

I hope there was a big crowd , never said I didn't.

We were crap, then dominated (if you like lets pick 12 years 66-78 in a very strong comp) and then are crap again.
I dont remember a drop in members when we were winning. Certainly dropped a lot when we struggled.

You were crap and now dominate. Numbers should be up. All the great clubs increase members and crowds when successful.

They've renamed it from the "race" to the "closet" apparently

He is just resuming from an injury - only played half a trial so was considered underdone for tonight.

Re the supporter numbers query, true supporters support a club when they are down. This is when you really need your supporters and this is when CDFC supporter numbers rise. We are not a 'fair weather supporter club' who only follow a club when they are winning. We follow them more when they are struggling and need us! ;)

Cheers

A very 'fickle' club when it comes to members/crowds I'd say - damned if they win too much, damned if they struggle. Centrals are a great club IMO. It's sad they struggle to attract a bigger crowd - and yes great clubs do grow their crowds and members, look at Port of old or ManU etc etc. CD have VERY good travelling support relative to most other SANFL clubs tho.

(BTW I am a paid up member of the CDFC as well as SFC. I go as often as I can to all Sturt and Centrals games, wether they are winning or not. I've followed both all my life - 2 parents one supports each. Both clubs have many fair weather supporters but they are still the minority.)

it was right in front of me...Hayes took a massive cheap shot at Jace Bode and then fell awkardly...Jade went and remonstrated with Hayes but he was injured and that was that...there were a few brain dead idiots around us that assumed Bode must of caused it..but what they didnt get was Bode was giving Hayes a mouthful as he left the ground because Hayes was the one doing the dirty stuff.

Having said that i hope he recovers fast he's a good player. hate to see injuries like that too anyone.

good game of footy. centrals will be back. good signs for Norwood

Reasonable crowd.I think the game starts an hour too early-people working, people with sporting commitments etc. ims ur eif it started after 7pm we would see na extra 1,000 people aprox.

good facilities down at doggy land with the bars, pokies etc...Norwood should take note.

Cheers Gary .. Agree on the ground, I said to my old man as we walked in "Bar our results here, this is an excellent ground" for all the reasons you mentioned.
