Hard to say once Jordan McMahon returned ;)

I'm not referring to his weights sessions here BP :D Na fair enough, but while on the issue, is presence and impact worthy of a spot in the state team? Unless he's Judd like in the clearances, kicking a goal once a week and avg less that 4 touches a qtr is hardly having a huge impact. Anyway, I'm being VERY harsh.

Players who are pretty well dominating or consistently very good at SANFL level can make the transition to AFL in my opinion.
Puopolo and Duigan have had great seasons with their respective clubs, but both were very good for Norwood the previous season. Obviously players must have certain attributes, and fill the need that a team may need, but some blokes who have managed to stay on some AFL lists make the mind boggle.
Simply not any Tom Dick or Harry is going to cut it but there are definately a good handful of guys from the SANFL who for some reason have not had a look yet.
During the finals series while watching South get pumped by the Eagles I was sitting close to Brett Ratten and one of his recruiting staff. They were busy taking notes on both of the games played so it would be fair to say they may have one or two players in their sites.

Only "mature" SANFL players who are in consideration for an AFL spot are those that got invited to the State screening last Saturday: Spurr, Shenton, Day and Stribling (Morris and Milera already picked up). Of those four left only one with any real chance is Spurr.

Lots of good footballers left on the orginal list but being a good footballer doesn't guarantee you an AFL spot you have to have another aspect to your skill set such as speed, a big engine, size or super skills that hit the target and even then that doesn't guarantee you a spot.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I don't think Spurr should be drafted. We're here for the SANFL not to provide players to the offal (afl).

I would be very surprised if Spurr isn't drafted. He has all the attributes to be a great AFL player and I think the succcess of Duigan has proved guys who play well in the SANFL in their mid-20's can certainly make an impact at AFL.

I don't think the others will make it. Shenton because his kicking is terrible. Day because he probably isn't tall enough to hold a key position in the AFL, is probably a bit slow and doesn't have great peripheral vision.

Stribling can find the ball but I think suffers from not being an 'athlete' which seems to be what AFL scouts look for these days.

Well don't be surprised if you read about him getting in best players of a WAFL team next year as a Fremantle Rookie....

Only heard bits and pieces. I know of one of the Glenelg invities who has probably shifted himself from a 3rd-4th rounder to a 1st-2nd rounder on the back of his 20 m sprint time. I know Adelaide and Hawthorn are keen on him.

I can only comment on Jordan Murdoch from Glenelg as read these comments on the AFL website
 http://www.afc.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

"Glenelg forward Jordan Murdoch got the South Australian screening session off to a flying start with a time of 2.76s in the 20m sprint test - a mark fractionally outside Joel Wilkinson's record of 2.75s set just last year.
"Murdoch, who couldn't test in Melbourne because his side was in a final, was absolutely eye catching," Sheehan said. "His first sprint attempt nearly blew the record away. It looked quick and it turned out to be very quick."

They got Stokesy when he was about the same age as Goldy is now. That worked out pretty well for them!

yes all the games skills are important to recruiters.
most sort after are; can the body stand the rigours of a tough pre-season and come through unscathed.
;most important is decision making under extreme pressure.
if you tick those boxes you are a chance.
