Nah, too early.

Had Sturt postponed their decision until after the GFC appointment then they coulda gone after Jars.

They are a bit short staffed on water boys. Jars could still come on board if he wants.

A splendid idea; I'm sure Jars would make a sterling addition to the Sturt FC board.

Hmmm.. perhaps they do need a jester. He can use all the jokes he collected at training sessions.

But then some people like to do nothing when faced with a hard decision! :-)

Fascinating parallel with what happened at Glenelg this year where a hard decision was made. Although some viewed it a disgrace, gutless etc.

At half time of the last Sturt vs. North encounter some very well connected Sturt people told me that Norman would be gone and in fact many expected the SFC Board to sack him the following Tuesday after the Board met. I understand a big issue was he had "lost" many of the Senior Players and a few would go if he was to stay on in 2012. I have since found out that the delay in this announcement was due to the SFC trying to secure another ex SANFL coach to take over but that didn't happen so Maloney got the job.

Yes was Mark Mickan however he refused to do to someone else what was done to him and wouldn't talk to them until they had informed Norman that he was gone. Board kept trying but he wouldn't budge. The bloke is full of integrity. Pure class.

Was the ex SANFL coach a coach of the club previously? He wanted to stay on for 2009 then move onto the AFL after that.

ABSOLUTE CRAP LT!
At no stage did the SFC approach Mark Mickan.

What a quality bloke. That is unbelievable. Ross Lyon could take a leaf out of his book.
They are the sort of things the media DON'T report.
I want Mark Mickan at MY club.
Cheers Mark.

Just a hole or two in that "tale". If what you say is true, why wasn't Mickan named coach?

Very dissapointed to see Norman go.

Now for those that appointed him what has happened to them, let me guess they have gone and done what they did last time and appointed the assistant coach. One really must wonder about the character of the assistant coach if he has accepted the role the day Norman departs. I cant see how he can say he gave Norman his full support.

I really do hope Sturt suck big time next year.
