JK, not much happening in the Big Phil household this evening, the missus is watching Fox so I'll give this a real good crack mate.

If I were Roy Laird and had a full, injury free list to pick from, I would go with a side looking a bit like this I think:

CENTRAL'S BEST REALISTIC LEAGUE SIDE:

FF: Ryan Williams - Daniel Havelberg - Scott Dutschke
HF: Chris Gowans - Alan Obst - Trent Goodrem
CL: Brayden O'Hara - James Gowans - Jarrod Schiller
HB: Lee Spurr - Justin Hardy - Eddie Sansbury
FB: Luke Barmby - Yves Sibenaler - Andrew Hayes

1R: Jason Sutherland - Paul Thomas - James Boyd

INT: Cameron Milne - Kyle Jenner - Thomas Dunne

EMG: Chad O'Sullivan

That was a hard side to pick as the Dogs have some quality players on their injury list at the moment and with a full squad avaulable, it is hard to try and fit everyone in. The side picked above does not include Ian Callinan as I don't know for sure that he will even end up qualifying for SANFL finals and even if he does, he still needs to be given permission.

I didn't include other AFL listed players Jack Gunston, Ricky Henderson and Brad Symes as their is too much doubt as to whether they will end up being available at the business end of the SANFL year, Gunston the more likely of the Crows boys to spend more time with the Dogs possibly. Matthew Westhoff, for mine, just isn't in the Dogs best 21 if all the others were available.

IF the likes of Callinan, Gunston and Symes WERE available for the Dogs in finas and given AFL permission to play, (for mine, these are the realistic ones, I don't think Henderson will play SANFL again this year, he seems to be a favourite of Craigy's that will likely keep his AFL spot) there will be some very tough decisions to be made selection wise and a couple of blokes would be unlucky indeed.

CENTRAL'S ABSOLUTE BEST LEAGUE SIDE:

FF: Ian Callinan - Daniel Havelberg - Jack Gunston
HF: Chris Gowans - Alan Obst - Trent Goodrem
CL: Brayden O'Hara - James Gowans - Jarrod Schiller
HB: Lee Spurr - Justin Hardy - Eddie Sansbury
FB: Brad Symes - Yves Sibenaler - Andrew Hayes

1R: Jason Sutherland - Paul Thomas - James Boyd

INT: Cameron Milne - Kyle Jenner - Ryan Williams

EMG: Thomas Dunne

I think the Dogs youth has been very promising this year, particularly the likes of Jarrod Schiller, David Haydon, Jacob Templeton, Luke Barmby and Thomas Dunne, the first 3 receiving Powerade Star Search Nominations this season. I think Luke Barmby, Jarrod Schiller and Thomas Dunne have all proven they can cement their spot in the league side and they make my final 21, AFL players pending.

I also really rate the likes of Ash Duncan, Charlie Molyneux, Luke Habel and Damian Hynes who have all had a taste at league level for Central this year. At this stage however, I just can't fit them in the best league side should all listed above be available. And further from that, the possibility of Barmby and maybe Dunne missing out in the league side for AFL players, that would make the 2's even stronger.

As much as it has been great to see him back playing football full stop, I had to make a hard decision on Chad O'Sullivan and I have him just missing out, being named the emergency. It does make me think that a Doggies reserves side, should all the above players listed in the side, would also look pretty dangerous. Some names people may not know much about in this side.

CENTRAL'S NEXT BEST, RESERVES SIDE:

FF: Adam Varcoe - Matthew Westhoff - Ryan Bottin-Noonan
HF: Charlie Molyneux - Nick White - Keiran Flanigan
CL: Josh Waldhuter - Luke Habel - Chris Musolino
HB: David Haydon - Jacob Templeton - Corey Reichert
FB: Matthew Prior - Damian Hynes - Josh Vater

1R: Jack Hannath - Ash Duncan - Chad O'Sullivan

INT: Paul Marschall - Adam Cullen - Caleb Edmead

EMG: Travis Schiller

Agree with all that Big Phil very good sides.

Only small one, i would probably have Thomas Dunne in your absolute best side rather than Jarrod Schiller, i think Dunne is more versatile as he can play forward, back or midfield he can also play as a tagger ala ANZAC Day on Brett Backwell.

You no your going well what thats the only critisimn in my eyes.

I would love to see O'Hara and Dunne both on fire kicking inside 50!

I stewed a fair bit on the Schiller v Dunne option whufc, I just think Schiller's ability as a tagger is a bit higher than Dunne and IF a fit Brayden O'Hara is in the side, this, for mine, forces Dunne out as they are like for like.

The club has bought all that vacant land on the south side of the clubrooms as well as buying the car park off of the council. The club wants to create a multi sports hub. It's on page 4 of current Messenger.

And in breaking news the club has just announced that the new sporting hub was possible due to the generosity of the Smithfield Community Centre , with one of the conditions being the addition of a new multi level crib to compliment the 15 new pokies in the canteen. My understanding of the issue was that having the 60K wasnt the issue.

The club didnt want to spend 60K this financial year to have the lights upgraded for only 2 games especially ones against the Eagles and North.

Over the preseason the lights WILL be upgraded and the club will be requesting up to 5 night games for the 2012 season.

If Centrals invest in lights they should get night games IMO. If crowds don't attend for whatever reason then they will need to manage that but they would have done this risk analysis anyway.

Thought the council paid for that?

Also - (not being overly observant nowadays) - how long has the new black fencing around Elizabeth Oval been there? Am assuming this was also a "council job" given that the Aquadome opposite has the exact same type as well?

Comedy gold Staritski whats next Centrelink and or day release gags.

You Norwood fans must realise if it was not for day release. Gary Mcintosh would never of coached Norwood.

With Brad Symes out this week (sore knee), I 'm guessing it's not a qualification game?

Ian callinan was upgraded to the crows main list today. So he will make his debut against one of the best teams in the last 50 years. Massive jump.
Him and jpod have shown state league players that they are never too old

< We apologise for this break in transmission >

Glad to see Norwood folk have not reacted by inferring that champions like Gary Window, Peter Vivian or
John Platten were hopeless failures in any way.

Let’s be fair gentlemen, could you please ask Messrs Jonas, Clarkson and Laird just how successful they would
have been as coaches in a club facing the player loss, bankruptcy and extinction that was Macca’s lot?
I’m sure they’d tell you the truth. To take us through our darkest hours and to survive meant more at the time
than any Premiership.

Gary McIntosh remains an ultimate achiever on and off the field. Best of all, he told those Vic @rseholes where
they could shove their filthy loot on many occasions. I think we can lay off South Australian ‘football royalty’
from ALL clubs.

And just for fun, I believe since 1964 ……….
Wooden spoons: Norwood - 2, Central - 2
Premierships in a first rate league: Norwood - 5, Central - Zero

It was a joke Sabre. If Staristski can have his comedy gold so can we ;)

Fair enough, but winning a wooden spoon in this 'second rate' league counts for 10 pre-Crows then.
