You make it sound like we haven't beaten West in years Mickey ? West haven't one at Unley since 2000 . Should be pretty close buut West for me they still have some quality in that side.

Was more referring to the posts in this thread picking west to win... and in general with a "bottom" club playing a higher ranked team

I think you might be under estimating some of those "ins" Mickey.

This should be a very close game, Sturt with a pretty good effort last week may fall off the pace a bit, we're very up and down with our form and effort. 50/50

No matter the ladder positions i think this will be a very hard game for the bloods to win.

It would also be a great boost mentally to the squad if they do get across the line.

I just think it will be hard to play well with that many changes to the side in a week.

Some stats on these 2 sides, provided by the great stats man PhilH

All Recent Encounters
- Sturt have won 18 of the past 20

Recent @ Commander Ctr Oval, Unley
- Sturt have won last 12
- West last win Rd 9 (May 6) 2000

“Did You Know” Statistical Notes
- West’s last premiership was obtained against the Double Blues in the 1983 Grand Final
- West have the longest losing streak of any current club at the Commander Centre Oval, having not won at Unley since 2000

One for Spelly perhaps - I'm not sure who the side is with the current longest losing streak at a particular ground in the SANFL, if not the above streak?

Pretty sure we haven't won at Elizabeth since 99 (can't remember seeing us win out there to be honest). South (winning at Elizabeth) would be about the same I'd think

Good ins for West IMO, Mickey is a bit confused I think. Some losses but some good ins and no reason West should not win and this is probably Wests best opportunity to get a win at Unley. If they can't win this they dont deserve top 3 .

I think you are being unfair to sturt who pushed Eagles -

Tambling, Crane, Sheedy, Hinge,C. Evans, Br Martin, Gum, A. Thomson are seasoned players with a good body strenght and play unley very well.

Hinge didn't play.Cranes influence again limited on a wing ???? Tambling was ordinary in the first half and then moved to the middle and was good but amazingly not left there .Craig Evans ? You dont watch many Sturt games Mark , if we had depth would not be in the side and Brodie needs to do a lot more and that is by his own admission.

I see your point when you name some of these quality players but a lot of Sturts current woes are off field as well.Having said that sides don't lose 12 players from their league side and remain top 3 material.

Fair Point mate! I guess what you are saying is games aren't won on paper

I think my side is pretty tall tomorrow - Perhaps a windy or wet day could make things interesting > look forward to the game and see what transpires

I'm really happy to see Michael Shearer making his League debut for Westies.

He's a great young man who works hard for his team mates, and really deserves this opportunity.

Hope it's a day to remember for him
