FINAL SCORE 18s: SA 14.16 100 def QLD 6.7 43.

Mayes 4.3, Carger 3.0, Wingard & McDonough 2.1, McKenzie 2.0, Simpson & Murdoch 1.1, Grigg 1.0

Will a 57 pt margin vs a Div 2 side be enough in percentage terms?

Im also keen to know if/when telecasts occur. ;)

It was so "big", it didn't even get mentioned in the match report on the AFL site:

Luke Wilson from Pt Adelaide was stiff to miss out, his game against the Sturt 18's, being directly opposed to Rich Tambling, was pretty good. Kicked goals, some great chases and tackles, was creative and clean and his pace was electrifying. Hopefully he gets his opportunity throughout the championships at some stage.

Luke like many kids missed out - that is life. Unfortunately if Phillips doesn't rate you it doesn't matter what the kid does. Many can attest to that. That is why no-one respects him interstate. There are many kids talking to clubs outside of the state program. He lost the unloseable last year so will be interesting to see what they do this year. Must be pretty good though if 6 kids that have tasted league footy can't get in the team. Tell you something ? Any way good luck to the kids that get a crack.

So what was this amazing thing that happened in the game on the weekend? Haven't heard nothing. No one kicked a bag. No one got reported. What was it?

yep if he doesnt like/rate the lad he's no chance.but that doesnt mean the afl clubs take any notice of his selection criteria. i've had a couple of conversations with him and was astounded at his attitude regarding the lads that dont toe his line..i know of a lad who was being closely watched by a club who were very keen on him and said club asked phillips to include him in his squad..his answer...nup not interested in that lad.
he has his favourites and thats it.end of story in his eyes.absolutely no feeling for how the lads he dumps or gives no feedback to take being overlooked for selection.

Ordinary bloke with questionable talent identification in my opinion.which is reflected by how many lads get taken in the main draft.

The SA lads all lined up to start the game in the wrong position - the full forward at full back etc etc.

SA skipper Chad Wingard lost the toss but told his players they were kicking the way Qld decided after winning the toss.

So recruiters should pick the team and name a player that has been overlooked by Phillips but is so highly rated by recruiters.

I would think he will get a game at some stage.
Jason Nyskahus was also extremely unlucky. Reserves premiership payer last year, and i would have thought one of the best midfielders in the U18 comp.

Sleeping Giant I think many will agree with Tigerpie. I have watched kids footy in this state for years as a recruiter and have no interest in any particular kids but that is exactly what happens with this man. Look at last years so called super team that he coached to the un-loseable title and kids got drafted that he did not even mention - shows how much he knows. He has the communication skills of a mute. He would not know how to develop anything. The good thing is that the cream normally will rise to the top and with mature age recruiting becoming a more common sense approach these kids will get further opportunity. In all honesty any kid going to GWS would be on a hiding to nothing. You would think they would be looking to get away after their 2 years. I do agree that certain kids have been picked in roles they don't play in normally and judging by what I saw on saturday they struggled. Good luck to all kids selected anyways.
