One complaint that I will be taking up with the club is the installation of fridges in the bar on the northern side of the grand stand. The beer wasnt cold all day, probably not too cold when fridges stocked and doors being constantly opened doesnt help. Please at least put some on ice or its off to the bar behind the northen goals.

I think your on the money mate, thats why you will find most of the older guys have now moved on and stand at other parts of the ground.

Didn't make the 'trek' to Elizabeth this week, figured I'd watch it on TV - Mt. Compass to Elizabeth is a 4 hour round trip, afterall!!!

That said - we were lucky to get as close as we did IMHO.
As previously stated - we generally get 'close' out there but rarely get the 'bikkies' - as a certain large racing identity might put it.

I think Grocke will be better for the run - looked short of a gallop for mine.
He is very important focal point for us.
Some encouraging signs though - whoever no. 57 is, he's having a 'stellar year' for a bloke no-one appears to know about ;)

Lewis is beginning to 'find it' more now too - started the year slowly IMHO but is now getting better - as are Trebby & Powell.

Elizabeth certainly is a BIG ground - we seem to struggle through Half Forward out there, perhaps that had something to do with Grocke this time.

I like Batley - looks a 'goer' to me.

Glad Petrenko is back too - he will be very handy come Finals time.

UMPIRING
Perhaps one of the best exhibitions of umpiring Ive seen in recent years

DUNNE
Ive seen him play a few games now, he is ultra impressive
Has a thumping left foot kick, has kicked some impressive goals
Plays equally well forward and back from what Ive seen

OBST
I had honestly thought that with SCHELL retiring that this would be an OBSTacle for CD
Obst after a few rounds has dispelled my thoughts
Obst a very good mark, good on the ground, and has a booming kick, is a star

BATLEY
Ohh whatta beauty
He didnt rack up the disposals, but when he got the footy he was dynamite
His first 2 kicks in the SANFL were brilliant resulting in 2 goals
Both goals he got the ball, bounced, and kicked truly from well out from goal
I was thinking maybe he was a flashy type
A bit later he took a gutsy mark on the half back line running towards a pack
The Eagles need to take advantage of this player, as he wont be with the club in 2012 from what Ive seen

STEWART
Has a previous history of shoulder injuries ?
Came off during this game with a shoulder prob
He returned in the last qtr and further injured the shoulder
Perhaps EG had a restricted interchange ?
Just seemed a baffling decision to send him back out

J GOWANS
Kissed Cicolella at half time ...

THE MATCH
The game was won at qtr time
Partly becoz of CD high skill levels
Mostly becoz of some ineptness in the EG defence
EG made some atrocious mistakes in the back half with disposals, costing them 2 goals
During this match CD scored 4 goals from EG blunders
Just like the ST game, this was the difference by the end of the game

LAST QTR
CD had a good lead, EG never gave up
This qtr was a very good one, both sides playing exceptionally well
The skill levels were very high for both teams
Given similar line ups EG should not fear CD in 2011 from what I seen in this game

Do you know that Woodville Oval is wider than Elizabeth? But Elizabeth is longer.

Yep he is a gem!

Reminds me alot of a younger more switched on Josh Coulter.

His decivingly tall as well, he was standing next to Havelberg at the pre game presentations and is the same height as him, in the reserves he tends to play at Half Forward and even at Full Forward.

Groundhog day on Saturday.

Get belted in the first half , make our way back to within 2-3 goals , miss a shot at goal , Dogs run it down and kick a goal , game over.

Happens every year.

Central were very comfortable, score board should have shown a loss of 7 goals.

Central = Machine

Further , can someone have a word with the powers to be at Elizabeth. You don't need to make the entire outer wing a family friendly zone. Pain in the arse having to stand outside of the white line to have a beer and a whinge. Over than that , a good place to watch footy and free carparking in the school grounds is a good initiative.
If at first you don't succeed , then destroy all evidence that you tried in the first place

I thought the length was the same (or similar), but the width at Elizabeth is greater. Anyway, it's not the size that counts, it's what you do with it.

Really, well how do you explain that Norwood and Glenelg have small ones and they have performance problems in October?

How do you work that out? Hardly think Norwoods finals record can be compared with Glenelgs. Did the Dogs go to footy park one day and "omg. This grounds like Elizabeth. We are a shoe in now lads".

It's an interesting point. Perhaps other clubs should be looking at enlargement. Centrals size obviously pleases AAMI.
