It's great to see the young fellas get a run. What we've had doesn't work, and what we've got blooming is encouraging. With some genuine talent to come back into the side i'm reasonably confident. Bar the Norwood game, we haven't played more than one good quarter per game. For mine, today's stand outs were Kirk, Tenace, Grima and Cornes, Roar, Skipper had great second halves. Friday night gonna be big.

nup, we're black & gold, even the budget gets that right, however seeing we 'borrow' richmonds song we sing ''yellow & black'' ;)

Whilst really frustrating to watch there were moments of good footy from both sides.

There is absolutely no doubt the Bays got out of gaol when North were 6 goals up (on a couple occasions iirc), but credit in coming back to get over the line.

Disappointing crowd for a perfect day for footy.

Is there a psychologist in the house, because I fear the Bays are bipolar the moment ... a cure is rapidly needed.

I'm glad the Power were dumb enough to drop Chad, but shouldn't have had to rely on him pulling a victory from the jaws of defeat.

The youngsters continue to impress, but there's lots of improvement required across the board.

All in all, to be 3-2 in 4th and only playing probably 6 or 7 decent quarters in 5 games , things could be worse.

Can only go up from here.

Apparantley it was a young bloke because Graham Cornes wasn't too happy with my "Dig a hole and bury him" quip!

Was that all you said Wedgie? Cornes's reaction was fairly aggressive for such a harmless and quite humouress jibe. I could understand him reacting like that if it was directed towards his own lad. Anyway, the jibes he was copping from some of the 'end to enders' last week wouldn't have been any worse than what you said yet, he gave them a smile (and the bird).

BTW, did you see who was in the corner of G. Cornes and the tattooed gents? Several Port Power players, one out injured (drinking and whose own SANFL club was playing at Oval Ave), the other played the night before (drinking) and the former premiership player flipping the bird and attempting to further incite a reaction from the North supporters.

Yeah, must admit I was surprised by Cornsey's reaction, I questioned if that was just what he was upset about and he said it was, I said, you've been playing and going to the footy for 40 years and you've never heard someone yell that out (and I did yell it out in good humour, I obviously hope the lad is OK)?
He then questioned if I'd ever played footy, I laughed at him and said yeah, 50 games for Noarlunga C grade!
I can only assume by Cornses reaction and comments to me that you can only yell abuse at the footy if you've played so many games at SANFL level?
I then told him to sue me!
What a knob, the 2 Glenelg supporters who stood with us were embarassed at Cornes.
If I'd had a couple more and my kids weren't sitting with me and he'd come 20 meters to get in my face again he probably would have been decked in what would have been a very ugly incident provoked by him.
Oh, and I did tell him to try and blame this one on Central supporters too!

Now that you're telling me there were Power players there does make sense as when we walked past them after the game they were dead quiet, I couldn't work out why but its all tweaked now as I was wearing a Geelong jacket!

Probably best to avoid Glenelg Oval with wankers like that in the crowd ;)

Not sure what Graham Cornes was trying to prove? He appears to have some confrontational personality disorder. Sad when your a nearly 70 year old pensioner and have a head like a busted arse? Maybe he was trying to prove to his wife he is still young and virile??? Maybe he was worried about the presence of some former power players hanging out with his "crew" and the effect it may have on the females amongst them?

Can't wait for him to mention this on 5AA?

Having said that - I missed seeing him come over and confront wedgie despite standing next to him for most of the game!

There was a lot of discussion after some Power supporters booed Ruwoldt when he was taken off last week as well.

In my opinion it really isn't appropriate or good sportsmanship to abuse or boo an injured player.
In this case Bradley has just taken an important defensive mark, then landed awkwardly.
He had a suspected broken ankle, which could be season ending.

IMO Anyone making smart arse comments after this, thoroughly deserves a quick response reminding them of how inappropriate it is.

Braddles father was in the crowd too, but thankfully not in your area.
If he was the one who reacted, would you feel it was over the top as well?

Geez Wedgie... what did you expect? A pat on the back for providing comedy relief?

As I said to Mr Cornes, its been going on at the footy as long as I'm alive. If you can't handle comments like that (I didn't even swear) and are going to react by charging at a person from 20 metres away then you shouldn't have been at the footy.
He doesn't know what sort of person I am, I could have been one that would deck someone who does that (as a lot would have), he has a heart attack and dies, the other person ends up in gaol.
If he can't control himself he's going to create potential scenarios like that every time he hears a quip against one of his team's players like that then he shouldn't be going out in public.
Stupid old fart doesn't even have alcohol to blame for his stupidity and should know better at his age.
I would call it mid life crisis but he should have been through that about 20 years ago!
What's with the tattooed freaks he was hanging out with who almost started an all in, does he normally hang out with them?

Cornes = Cock 8)

He is ALWAYS right, never wrong & if an opposing arguement is set then he cuts off the caller or turns them down.
As a footballer he was very good - a Tassie Medal in a National Carnival is testiment to this.

I am not sure that the "... have you played any games" dross is an appropriate response, how many women have? - Does that make a female's viewpoint any less valid? Of course not.

As for comedic quips... I support that, the more the better.
Are injuries comedic fodder? - perhaps not but neither are nude photos or sex with under age girls but if you'd read our local rag recently, they have no issue publishing comedic 'quips' about those issues.

I remember Cheers Squads singing 'Bring on the Meat Wagon' in the '80s when players went down injured.

The problem here is Cornes reaction - He clearly believes that he has a right to 'get in ya face'.
I would pay good money to see someone deck him - please Wedgie, come down the Bay in 3 weeks when we play 'em... LOL

LOL dont tempt me!

Back on the game though, despite North's poor win/loss record I haven't enjoyed the footy as much for about 4 years. Really enjoying the style being played by most clubs.

Yesterday's game actually panned out exactly as I predicted with the Bays rushing home like they did. Was a similar game to watch as some of the mid 00s.

Mind you Im looking forward to a game when Alleway starts kicking straighter, he's kicking worse than Gill lately!

Worse part about that situation imho,

is if he charges at you and abuses you as you said, if you were then to deck or push him, he would then be made out to be an innoncent victim in the media and no doubt you would feel the full wrath of the law and not get a fair case as the media would already have portrayed him as innocent and you as a thug no matter what the truth to the story is.

Jarryd Lyons is a beauty - good inside player with a touch of class - has been a touch inconsistent but is only a kid. Played a super last half yesterday against north - definitely a player that the Crows will like - just needs a little more time
