This will be a tragedy.

Share the money around to the clubs.

Any mis-management of the funds and clubs will disappear.

How many clubs have to fold for the SANFL to disappear.

Maybe the SANFL has to unite with the AFL?

Maybe this is the beginning of a Division 2, 3 & 4 of AFL.
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

I dont think you guys have given the SACA head honchos enough credit, they are all smart and are you forgetting it was them who initiated the move of football to AO, they would already have agreenents in place. Footy gets oval from march except if redbacks ever make final.
I reckon SACA still have a few more cards to play aswell

great post jim.i certainly hope the afl dont bully the saca into being the poor cousin.if they do i would hope there would be some sort of severe public backlash.

That pretty well sums it up for me. I am looking forward to heading to AO to watch an AFL game as a neutral supporter and catching my regular bus home. Friday night games will be very popular I reckon...

Both Football and Cricket need a second venue in my opinion. Sounds like Cricket will use Glenelg Oval and cam keep using park 25 so football need to find somewhere to host AFL trial games and junior games that kind of thing. Thebarton is very run down but there must be other options. I think the ground needs to be able to host SANFL league games if required but won't be a regular venue. The criteria needs to be that it can be fenced off, decent player facilities and year round access. I think there are enough grounds with lights so that wouldn't be a necessity.

Victoria have played Shield finals at Junction Oval before as opposed to the MCG.

Yes they have.
In the unlikely event of SA ever hosting a final it will be held at AO.
Im sure footy can go without the oval for an extra couple of weeks

Its less than 20 minutes from the CBD ( depending on traffic )
Public Transport, granted, could be better.
No atmosphere? Seems to be on SANFL GF day or when Adelaide / Port draw a crowd. Does the stadium produce the atmosphere, or the crowd?
Cold? LMFAO - Gets cold at Adelaide Oval in winter too.
Drags money out of Adelaide? What if I go to the city and only go to the footy, not eat, drink, shop or gamble in the CBD?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

Why dont they start with ripping out a few rows of seats if crowds are down. Have a couple of standing room areas.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

It's the content not the box that's the problem IMO. Personally I don't have too many issues with Footy Park and have great memories of State Games, early Crows games and finals (last year's GF proved to me how fantastic it can still be given a good game and an even number of supporters). When my team is lucky enough to make the finals I still get a tingle driving down the Boulevard, enjoying pre-game drinks & BBQs and that takes-me-back-to-being-a-kid moment when you trudge up the race and see the oval panorama for the first time. Love it; just don't enjoy the atmos at Port / Crows games or the supporters they attract so I don't go very often anymore. As pretty as Adelaide Oval is I don't much like it to watch footy. Drinking grog on the hill, sure.
