Can i suggest a quick phone call to the club and enquire about what they have in mind for the night may allay your fears....or not! All i know is the club is trying to appeal to younger people who as we know like noise, movement, action all the bells and whistles so i suspect there will be plenty razzamattaz, which we "older" folks find a bore. Come along regardless it promises to be a good game and it will be a first.

No need for the phone call as you have allayed my fears, good to know it was scrapped.
The fireworks, etc should be fun and a bonus for my kid playing in the night.
I also look forward to the catering down there which is 20X better than Prossie.
I've just SMSd mates who are locals to come along to catch up too, should be a good night, let's hope the weather gods are with South!

Iám saying i don't know what they're going to do that's why i suggested to call the club. However, a number of Southies rightly complained that excessive volume and too much ground announcer used early last year resulted in a reduction in both and eventual scrapping of the announcer. Maybe Saturday night they will have it just right or something else, either way turn up and see, chance to win $10k just by attending.

Funnily enough for a game so early in the season the results could have massive consequences.

A loss to South here and its very hard to see them stringing enough wins and confidence to really challenge for a finals spot especially considering they would still have to play Central, Norwood x3 and Glenelg and Eagles x2 more times in the season.

For North it will just be important to get that winning feeling back and to not win a game against West or South in their opening two would be a disastrous start especially with tricky games against Port (H), Eagles(H), Sturt(A), Glenelg(A), Norwood(H) to follow before their first bye. If they lose this it would be hard to see them having a positive record before that bye.

Panthers Night Football, this from the SAFC web-site sets out what to look forward to Saturday night:

The hype is certainly building as the South Adelaide FC look forward to their first ever night game under lights at Hickinbotham Oval.

The Club is viewing this event as a ‘second chance to make a first impression’ as it looks to re-invent the experience of attending football at the home of the Panthers.

With thanks to Centro Colonnades, patrons automatically go in the draw to win $10,000 by purchasing a limited edition “I saw the Light” t-shirt for just $10.

In addition to what promises to be a cracking game of football against North Adelaide at 6.30pm, and the cash give-away, a myriad of other entertainment options on the night will include;

“Foods of the World” with take-away Pizza’s Pastas and Curries added to the traditional pastries and BBQ fair
Brand new state-of-the-art sound system as used at Adelaide Oval 20/20 matches
Dual ground announcers including Adelaide 36ers court announcer
Pre-game on-ground interview with Panthers Coach Ron Fuller
On-ground interview with former North coach and Crows star Andrew Jarman
On-ground post-match interview with new Panthers Captain Nick Murphy
4 x games of Football – League, reserves, under 18s and under 16s all on the one day
Cheerleaders and club mascot performances throughout the entire game
200 footballs to be given-away
Free Jumping Castle
Free Rock-Climbing Wall
Free Face Painter

The Club has been fortunate to have received significant media external exposure this week through the Southern Times Messenger, and FIVEaa, with further interviews on FIVEaa and the Adelaide Advertiser to come. Unfortunately the highly anticipated fireworks are now unavailable for this Saturday night’s game, but the Club has been assured that they will be ready to go for its Easter Thursday night home game against the Port Magpies.

Unique to Hickinbotham Oval, patrons are still able to bring their cars into the ground, but those wishing to secure a spot will need to arrive early.

With the weather warming up as the week progresses, everything is pointing towards what will be a most entertaining event on Saturday night. We know all Panther fans will be in attendance and we encourage you all to bring along some people that have not yet attended a game at Hickinbotham Oval. We are very confident that they will have an experience that brings them back.

See you Saturday night!

North will be wearing their clash guernsey, the Red V on a white background.
At least you will able to see them if the lights aren't too good.

Damn, kids were looking forward to the fireworks.
Get a few locals to let off their sawn off shot guns instead!
Currie might go down a treat if I get half or fully cut on a decent beer before I get there!
I've already talked a few into going that wouldn't normally go (or swore they wouldn't go again), hopefully it's a success.
Pity it's not a Friday match:
Friday Fine 29
Saturday Possible shower 24

What worries me the most is these big build up games (ie. The Bays v South 1995 game to open the Oval) end up letting me down.

Bit of pressure on South with this game.....Im sure North will be out to spoil the party!!!

Lets hope we can come out with a win and get more people out there following them down South. ;)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!
