Yep cant argue with that really and soon enough he will run out of money and wont be to afford to gamble and drink as much as he is anyway.

The "holier than though" set would think it's a bad idea. Remember when people used to go to the footy to watch a forward kick a bag. Fev is one that is still capable of kicking 10+ in a game.

I like Wedgie's idea. Why couldn't the SANFL help get Fev to South ala the AFL getting Khunt and Israel to the Suns and GWS. Would generate huge interest down Noarlunga way. Not only would South attract people from the immediate area, but fair-weather supporters from other clubs would make the trek down also.

Would certainly increase home crowds when South/Fev came to visit also one would think .. I don't mind your suggestion lads, reckon it has a fair bit of merit.

The thought of Ron Fuller and Brendan Fevola on the same side is an interesting one. Ron's reputation for demanding total professionalism from his players may be too much for Fevola to handle. That said, there have been a lot sillier ideas put around over the years. For any club, it comes down to a) whether they would be confident they could control him, b) whether they would get the financial and football return it justified and c) whether his recruitment would galvanise or alienate a playing group.

It has already been stated in the press that all nine SANFL clubs ruled the idea out, but I guess for the right price and right reasons, decisions may be revisited.

Are you that keen to see an 8 team competition? Fevola would destroy South Adelaide. Peoples' inability to see beyond this guy's ability to kick a footy just never ceases to amaze me.

We are talking about Brendon Fevola, not Adolf Hitler, although I reckon Hitler would of been a good back pocket for Port.

Fevola would handle it easy to be honest . His problem is not discipline on the training track it is his own lack of discipline off. You can't seriously compare professionalism of AFL & SANFL clubs.I would like to hear what Fullers proffesionalism actually means , if you know ?

I wouldn't think Fuller would be happy with the guy missing team meetings. Fevola might be a massive talent and could out perform everyone else on the field without training or anything, but having one guy play by different rules, no matter how good they are, rarely end up a happy situation (anyone remember the days of Gary Ablett doing as he pleased at Geelong?).

Fuller cut Parry because he couldn't commit totally, despite having an agreement with the club. How would it affect the rest of the players if Fev was allowed to run amok? And if Fev wasn't allowed free rein and messed up how would South look not letting their massive investment play?

I don't care how good he is, the amount you'd need to get him here would not be worth the risk he'd not end up playing and the effect it would have on the playing community. 12 months of a guy who might not be up to playing more than a few games (if that) while risking hurting the whole culture of a club is not worth it, no matter how many people it brings through the gates.

And while he's not Hitler (amazing people even think it's worth commenting we're relating the two in all honesty) he's one of the most influential players around and has been turfed out of 2 clubs who got nothing for him in return. AFL clubs usually go to great lengths to keep good players, Carlton couldn't wait to get rid of him and were willing to set him loose for anything. Brisbane have set him loose for nothing on the eve of a new season. If you think everything would be cool at a new club you're missing several screws.

Wedgie not too sure about "bugger all interest down south" the club is doing plenty to increase interest with a number of positive outcomes. Fev would create temporary interest and after he inevertably implodes and brings both himself and the club under adverse negative attention any positive long term interest will evaporate leaving only dissappointment and further despair in its place.

Yeah, it was fantastic watching Ablett!
Carlton put up with his antics for years, so i dont know about "couldn't wait to get rid of him"
