Alex spreads his love around a bit doesn't he. Glad he's given up the camo gear. Hope he didn't hurt his hands yesterday

If you mean the guy in the red lycra sleeves and leggings, that's Alex.
As for the red hats, it's not actually a cheer squad as such. Our cheer squad typically has more flags than people to wave them. The red hat brigade is "The Spirit" - the term comes from verse 2 of the club song that references "The spirit of ol' 46, six six". Most members of the Spirit are supporters who go week in week out, home or away. At home games, everyone has a favourite place to be but at away games, the Spirit typically congregate together.
So our club doesn't really have a traditional cheer squad as such, but we do have a group of passionate supporters who are collectively known as the Spirit.
Just digressing a bit, but it relates to cheering.....the players I spoke to all said the atmosphere was phenomenal and the cheering from all sections of the crowd was loud and contant all match - so much so that players on the ground were rarely able to hear one another.

What does that actually mean? Did something happen in 1946?

FWIW I thought SANFL football clubs were supposed to be inclusive. Having something meaningful decided by 5 individuals and kept secretive to me undermines that. I just hope those involved think it made one iota of difference.

I hadn't bothered posting on it previously, because we don't give a "frig" what you think, but now in context. It's funny how some of your supporters have labelled the CCCEEEENNNTTTRAAALLSS chant "mind numbing" or a few other things I can't be stuffed looking up. What we know, is the atmosphere created by Central supporters lifts the team. Why, because they've told us after each premiership.
If MONSFAW lifts your team and "confuses" the opposition good luck to you. I hope Keith Thomas remembered to tell the players or can we expect it next year?
A Collingwood (and Glenelg) supporter came with me to the footy on Sunday. He thought the Central supporters were brilliant and was glad Collingwood had adopted the chant this year (made for an amazing atmosphere).
I'll look forward to sucking it up next year sunshine, especially if it's like 2010.

Collingwood have been doing this chant for years. They didn't adopt it this year from you guys. Get over yourselves thinking you invented everything these days just because you've been successful. Sturt have been doing the "you blues" chant for at least 40 years that I know of and a few mates of mine in the Carlton Cheer Squad have also been doing the same for 40 years. Collingwood have been doing that chant for at least 20 years that I know of from some mates in the Maggies cheer squad, which is well before I ever heard it at a doggies game.

I'll have to correct my Collingwood mate. Neither of us ever recall Collingwood ever doing it (but I and he may be wrong). I'll check the Collingwood, Brisbane grand finals again. Central have been doing it for at least 40 years. But I'm not going to argue this crap with you. We're Premiers for 2010.
Next year MOCSFAW, pm me if you want to know what it means.

Norwood defeated Port in the GF that year. There are stories of great adversity in that year, but P Dalwood was the leading goalkicker, and Ivan Holliday was BOG in the GF. (Ivan died in February this year). Jack Oatey apparently used to say that the 1946 team was the best he was involved with so it must have been special! I'm sure Adelaide Hawk can add more.
For interests sake the preceding lines in the second verse reference 1929 - another premiership year, saying
"well the team played fine
in the year twenty-nine.
The Redlegs that no one could lick, lick lick"
(then)
"From the crowd's first yell
to the final bell
the Spirit of ol' forty six, six, six".
