In years to come when you are trying to plan for your clubs reuinion and find players, good luck if you dont have a full name or initial. With our population now over 21 Million, double up of christian names and surnames is increasing.
On my database there are now 22,000 names. You would be amazed how many have the same first and last name. Also, there are some players with the same first and last names playing in the same season at times AND sometimes in separate comps.
My stats record state players from WA, TAS, SA, VFL, AFL, QLD.... Even the AFL private database has the full names of players and in the future, I suspect that privacy police will not allow full names to be printed. They have withdrawn the alphabetical electoral rolls now.
The AFL prints first names and initials of players where double ups occur. I have heard this paranoid american argument before BUT if you go back to stats in the 1890's to the 1970's, initials are given for all team line-ups and footy budgets.
Hopefully this puts a different side to the story
one last example
M. Hepple (FC which one?) or your clubs H. Hawke at NAFC - Middle initials help distinguish which player on an honour board - looks a darn sight better than bert hawke or Harry on an honour board and stops confusion in years to come when we look back at current day media reports which glance over sanfl stat. If you are a sturt supporter, there are no stats in the last annual report. So it is better to be as accurate as possible in the now.

Clint Diment was the best and most influential player out of that lot on Sunday.85 WAS A GOOD YEAR wrote:Best Players from the Club:

absolute rubbish 85wagy, everyone sees a game differently & surely thats fine ?, i think you don't like him would be more to the point, anyway i thought kennedy was good without being outstanding, i thought his smother & subsequent goal was the spark that set them alight, young matt snook got the medal & yet another 6 or 7 could have easily earned it as well

The players I named are the ones I thought people who don't follow the U18s comp usually, may be interested in watching.
Bayman mentioned a couple he wants to add, no worries. Thats what a forum is for.![]()
For people who are interested Re: Bayman's players to watch - James Hinge wears 29, and Ben Kennedy 1.
