Congratulations to Norwood on a win that showed so much self-belief.
If they bring their form from the third quarter into next week's Grand Final, it will be a superb match.
Hard luck, Eagles. Great effort though, considering the loss of Lewis, Treeby, Redden, Hentschell, Welsh (and Grocke for much of the second half today).
Good luck to JAS, REB, Constance Perm and all the other Norwood posters next week.

Well done Norwood, belief is good thing to have. Made us go into defence mode and you don't win matches often just surviving the match. Good luck for next week. And thanks for the commiserations, everyone...

The Eagles looked spent after half time. They did start going defensive and the tide started turning. Three questionable frees in front of goal in that 3rd quarter kept Norwood in it. The Eagles couldn't get anything going in the 2nd half. A good move by Godden to match the 7 defenders Norwood had with 7 forwards at the beginning of the 4th quarter. I thought we may just hold on, but Norwood just kept persisting and got in front when it counted. A terrific effort by them to get through to the Grand Final.

Parry and McKenzie were great for the Eagles all game. The first half was fantastic. Just couldn't keep playing that instinctive style in that middle period of the 3rd quarter and were running on empty.

the big question is can norwood recover enough mentally to give central a decent match next week....unfortuneately i doubt it as i think norwood have played their grand final today similar to sturt last year

I agree with you bayman.

Remarkable second half momentum swing on the back of a significant change in game styles. I do hope godden wasn't just trying to hold onto the lead and was still going for the win. Many observers will suggest they went ultra-defensive and it cost them, me, I just thik Norwoods runners just got on top and the Eag's couldn't get their hands on it.

Welsh was a late withdrawal and Grocke must have gone off injured too, because I didn't see him after half time. We would have been pushing the brown stuff up hill without them along with the others next week.

well done legs! well deserved.even when the umps were helping torrens at every opportunity , they couldnt put u away and paid dearly

GAGS BOG , his 2nd half was inspirational.

when GROKE went off in the 3rd, that made a huge difference to the game.

glad timmy has a chance to go out in style, ive always liked the little fella.

i thought SDK was gunna have a coronary with the raw emotion he showed when norwood hit the front and when the siren went.

the best side won on the day!

Two moments which I thought gave Norwood a big chance in the last few minutes was when Polec kicked it out on the full - I think he was going for the pocket, but shanked it.
And when the mark wasn't paid next to the behind post because it was touched. Instead of us getting possession of the ball with 1 minute 14 left, it was a 50/50 contest, and you can guess the rest. Can't blame Polec overall though, was everywhere in the first half.

Another moment was when McKenzie 'marked' the ball on the wing but it was a touched ball. Surely the umpire should have called play on rather than taking it off McKenzie for a bounce? No Norwood player had tackled him at this stage.

I thought it was one of those "both players with their hands on the ball" thing. It appeared that all players knew it was a mark to McKenzie, but then it was taken off him.

All the players around the ball had stopped and I had no problem with that decision.

I understand the decision and also don't have a problem with it either, but thought it was a bit odd that he went back to take his kick and no-one seemed bothered by it.

This is the 3rd time Ive seen the 2 teams play this season
Game 2 at WDV was a sensational standard, prob best Ive seen the legs play this season
Game 3 at the Parade was just about a mistakeless match, excellent standard

Today the Legs were woeful for a half
And EG were ordinary after half time
It really was a mistakefest

NW errors were the worst Ive seen in finals
The defence was the reason why the Legs got up
And also WWt for whatever reason played more accountable in the 2nd half [prob becoz they were too undermmanned]

NW played several goals in better in losing to CD last week and beating GL the week b4

End of the season for the Eags
They played 10 brilliant qtrs of finals footy this season, and only poorish ones today
To the staggering 49 players who played this season, well done for finishing a creditable 3rd

it was actually touched off the boot , and the umpire was yelling play on play on. the central umpire paid the mark not knowing.once he knew, blew his whistle for a ball up.

I just thought a touched ball would always result in play-on and it would only be bounced if an opposition player had tackled McKenzie. I could obviously be wrong with my interpretation though.

I now understand the decision for the bounce. Two different calls from different umpires.
