i thought norwood were brave after centrals first term onslaught against the strong breeze & actually thought central will be 10 goals up at the half, while norwoods heart & tenacity were great the way they kept fighting back, it looked to me that central were keeping them at 'arms length' throughout the second half, i reckon norwood got back to the 16 point margin 5 or 6 times but couldn't get the next one that would've made it interesting, however with a better start norwood did show more than enough that they can match central in 2 weeks time presuming they get over wwt's & that's going to be tough for them as well, if norwood can eliminate some of the 'unforced errors' they'll give the whole thing a shake & well done to nathan bassett who is obviously a very good coach because this same team couldn't beat me last year
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I think it's because we (well some of us) want the league to be a "Choose Your Own Adventure"... at the moment it's like being given a book where you already know the ending... I'd just like to enjoy the GF more than once or twice a decade, it'd be good to see some new faces.

It's why I want South in the finals, that'd be bloody brilliant!

For goodness sake if you Sturt fans want to whinge about the entire League then start a seperate thread or get back to discussing todays game.

DOGLEGDOWN 120 won by CD
NW 62
CD 58

Amazingly in the 46 years of Doglegdowns the 2 sides have never met in a Grand Final

On the actual game.. Well done doggies, very proud of the whole team. The first quarter centre clearances were awesome, then it fell away in the second.
Both sides made some basic mistakes either fumbling or kicking to the wrong spot, it's easy from the outer.
Norwood could have been closer if they kicked a couple early (obviously). This was a 50/50 game going in and it's a massive relief to be playing in the 11th GF in a row.
I thought the rucks, Boyd, Jenner, Schelly, Hayes, Havelberg all played well. Probably another positive is a number of players had poor games, so they can lift in a fortnight.
I haven't watched the replay, but I thought the umpiring in the first half of the second quarter was very poor.
I would think Norwood favourites next week, purely due to a couple of Eagles injuries.
Well done doggies!!

Boots are looking a bit small on your feet methinks.

Im calling you the Bitches, enjoy your minor round wins, ill enjoy our 11th GF in a row.

you have the wood over us, dont make me laugh you are a tadpole in the scale of our season we have much bigger fish to fry.

Have fun watching us in another gF bitches.

One tadpole you couldn't beat this year. 3 for 3 bitch. You want to slag off at those you defeated this year? That doesn't include us.
While unwilling, I'll still pay my dues to the flag winning machine you have up there at Elizabeth, just read my other comments on this thread.
I, like JAS, cannot understand why Bowesy has chosen this moment to go off about the Dogs. If that's what your problem is, go after him and leave the club you couldn't beat out of it.
Enjoy your Grand Final. I'll be watching.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I get the feeling the Dogs may have raised their eyebrows during the week upon hearing how the Leg's ferocious tackling was the cornerstone of their win against the Bays, and looked forward to reminding the media and footy public in general that they weren't too shoddy themselves in that department. A combination of that and priceless, hardened, finals experience resulted in a match winning first quarter effort. Having said that, after Norwood clung on for the first 5 mins of the second quarter, (where I thought they were wobbling), they then showed great character and took control of the quarter to put themselves right back in the mix. In the wash up, considering they were thrashed in the ruck and lacked a strong focal point up forward, they weren't that far off and would take considerable confidence out of some aspects of today's game.
For the Dogs - They now sit back and prepare for the GF knowing that they can control their preparation and not have to deal with the possibility of injuries in the Prelim. Also with the Reserves still in action, plenty of pressure from a selection point of view which will keep training honest in the lead up.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

The Bulldogs once again showed that they are a far more difficult opponent come finals time. Given the recent history between the two clubs, this result could be considered a thrashing ;).

Norwood looked like they had a bit of stage fright early on and Centrals were up-and-running early, making it very difficult for Norwood to get back from a 5 goal deficit. Whilst Norwood kept trying, it seemed Centrals lifted and did enough when required.

Seated near us were an elderly couple barracking for Norwood. After the CENNNN-TRALLLS and U-Dogs chants started nearby after the first goal, they said words to the effect of "Gee it's going to be annoying hearing this all day". I had to laugh after we copped it for basically every second final we played for half a decade.

I think both Norwood players and supporters learnt a lot today after mixing it with the big boys for the first time today - the players put up a good fight and I think they will be a lot stronger for it in the future.

The SIBENALER deliberate hand out of bounds in the NW forward line was blatant
The umpires missed what should have been a free kick to the legs
There were a couple paid in against the dogs in the Hamra Oval game that were the same if not slightly worse

Congrats to the Dogs an amazing record. If nothing else as a neutral I hope the GF is a cliffhanger decided in the last couple of minutes for a change like the WAFL GF today (Swan Districts defeated Claremont 14.16-100 to 14.15-99). The SANFL hasn't had a close one for as long as I can remember certainly not in the Centrals dominant decade. At least then more people will be talking about it in the following days.
