Glenelg looked as though they were in a very strong position to score and after sprinting about 200m at full pace against 2 Glenelg opponents, Sibenaler put on a desperate smother on an Alex Grima kick inside the Bays 50.

As Roy Laird said back at presentations, it is things like that as to why the club is happy to fly Evil down to be back in the league side.

Similar situation presented itself for the dogs and the dogs ended up getting the goal. The pleasing thing for me about that moment mostly was it showed that Evil wasn't too slow, if anything his pace seems better. Possibly from a bit of time off to recover but when it was a footrace I feared the worst and actually had a look for any other dogs withing 15 metres as a chance to get in there and affect the situation somehow.

Some choices coming up for the dogs in 2 weeks. Hardy, Cochrane, Nash, Barmby, Schiller and Switala all in the mix to return. Will be a good 2 weeks out at Elizabeth while we freshen some guys up, and let some others press their claims in the reserves next week.

Well played to Central in those conditions.

I think the only time I've experienced worse conditions was the '81 prelim against Norwood.

The issue for the Bays wasn't the loss but some of the injuries, so Sellar and Meyer are useful ins for next week.

FFS some Dogs fans, by all means celebrate a good win but go somewhere else if all you want to do is start brawls after the game.

For what it's worth, I have no concern coming through the Qualifying final ... it's what the team have been expecting for most of the year.

Let's see how tomorrow's results pan out as the Bays could be playing anyone of Norwood, Eagles or Sturt next week.

Bring it on ... the season begins now! :D

Not sure I agree with some comments I have read that suggested we were much the better side and always looked like winning. The Bays did really well in the 3rd quarter to bottle up play and if not for the 2 late goals we got, would have been in the better position at 3/4 time and a real chance of winning.
Having said that, what a great result for the Dogs as I think recovering from a slog like that will be a challenge now for Glenelg next week, as it would have been for whichever side lost. Although I guess we we dont know what conditions will be like tomorrow at Norwood & Woodville.

So a week off and 2 cracks at making our 11th straight GF. Amazing! Also nice to know that 2 of the final five will also be eliminated before we play our next game, (maybe even the two sides we lost to recently?)

Freaky?!? Come on maestro, you can do better than that: tell us if it was Glenelg's lowest ever score at Elizabeth, or the lowest 4th quarter combined score, or some other freaky stat that only you ould possibly know. Surely some sort of record must have fallen today?

And watch Norwood and Sturt tomorrow to get the same treatment as Glenelg did today in the free kick count.

Because the Eagles are the crudest tackles in the league?

Hmmm. 3 or 4 drunken effwits on the southern terraces? Pictures of the main offenders have been taken.

Thumbs up to the other two thousand dogs fans who were nothing but hospitable all day and provided good banter in front of the stands.

Most impressed with big Pumpa's performance today. On a day when stoppages were on world record time, I thought his strength around the packs was important. Also showed sure hands and skills in general in the wet. Feel sorry for Hardy - he did well earlier in year down back but by being asked to help out in the ruck he would seem to have lost his position in defence with the return of Evil, and on balance Pumpa is the better 2nd ruck option.

The definite highlights of the day for me were the pre game entertainment from the Dogs Bingo club and the mullet umpiring the mini league.
