Maybe thats a positive IMO any side that controls that much of the footy SHOULD win by plenty????? No sour grapes Eagles definitely deserved to win but I would like other peoples perspective on the umpiring. My thoughts, confusing, IMO the 3 umpires yesterday didnt gel well, too many decisions paid one way by a certain ump and not the other way by the other. Certainly didnt favour one or the other teams.

Interesting a DOGS fan should mention the umpiring .1 umpire seemed to be in love with the only Gowans boy playing yesterday. And before anyone has a rant at me .Check the first quarter he was taken in a tackle 1 arm held(that was important as the day went along for the umps) .He could not get rid of the ball ball up was the result.
Every-time an Eagles player was tackled in the same way(ie 1 arm held) it was ball.It didn't matter how long the Eagles player had the ball, it was holding the ball.
Now standing back and watching the buckets knock on Lewis .Clearly buckets was buggered and frustrated .Why did that umpire not report him. When clearly that impact was worse than the last time Grocke was reported .And it was that UMPIRE!!Surely a head high knock must be reported perhaps the SANFL will take action against that UMPIRE!!

What I did also notice was during different parts of the day. When the dogs were trailing .The old biffo came out and naturally the Umpires somehow (like wrestling ref ) missed it.Now nothing really untoward just the odd slap thump etc to the back .

Must have missed the "old biffo". I saw one minor wrestle and the Eagles got about a 100 metre penalty out of it. The umpire didn't report buckets because it wasn't reportable. Shouldn't have even been a charity goal.
The umpiring was rubbish, but the Eagles were better anyway.

Wrong. Centrals had more frees than Eagles at 3/4 time, but ended up with less. They probably got half their frees in the third quarter.

OK. Sorry. I'm wrong, you're right. We Lost AND we got the best of the umpiring. What a wonderful day.

Tell me did I enjoy the game?

Well, I know I didn't! lots of mistakes, kicking out on the full, kicking repeatedly to a 2 onto 1 contest, but it doesn't matter, We are still top & have the double chance.

The umpiring was terrible. Different umpires are having different interpretations of holding the ball. No consistency.

I see your point. But isn't that what umpires training is for? I reckon they can work it out!

you would think so. If you get the ball, don't dispose of it after having plenty of OPPORTUNITY to do so, then you are gone. If you are on the ground with the ball, then half the opposition descends upon your back, you have no opportunity, this is where the afl have stuffed it up.

Yes agree Centurion that's a fair comment and thanks for backing me up in the later post I didn't enjoy the game either. I was being sarcastic but I guess that is a concept lost on Eagle supporters.

I didn't think we played well enough to even be considered crap but my point still is that Tony Dey is a CHE@T!

OK. Apologies. I reread your post and you didn't say Centrals got the best of the umpiring, that was how I mistakenly interpreted what you had written.

Great win Wiggles I could tell from the first bounce that your boys were more committed and would win the game, however having said that, our friend Mr Dey had a bad day pardon the pun lol, some bewildering decisions, Buckets Mackenzie bump absolutely fantastic not head high and guess what he gets penalised, 25 metre free result goal??? its not AFL for gods sake, Wiggle player takes his time to kick ball after mark, Dey gestures play on,, Central player goes over mark as it is play on gets a 25 metre penalty ????, Callinan is pummelled into the ground in the back free kick, Dey awards him a 25 metre penalty next thing we know its play on whilst Callinan is still on the ground ????? i have been watching football for over 45 years and guess what i am still bewildered. Having said all that the Eagles were the best team on the ground and deserved the win.

When I said biffo there was the odd arm slap punch thrown nothing major seen more against other teams.Actually not as much as normal for an Eagles v Dogs game perhaps teh guys are getting older ;)
Well picking you up on Buckets(not looking for a fight with centrals here) purely that Grocke got reported in a marking contest getting there 10 seconds to late(different game )!! So that UMPIRE should have been true to form and reported Buckets. And yes no case to answer for my statement is aimed at the Umpire who two out of 3 times has reported Grocke for less!!End of the day (no pun intended) that umpire should be dropped to the mini league !!

That out on the full trap you Dogs fell into ;) .That has started to happen a lot when that type of wind is blowing at the Fortress .I'm surprised why teams go out to the far side .Kick long and 90% of the long kicks go out on the full !!

Aerie, did you notice the amount of quality OUTS for the Dogs, as well as a couple of very late changes, I think there would be a few Central fans (Centurion for one) that saw nothing unexpected in that loss...

Also, don't forget Central had not won at Woodville for 5 years (to the day yesterday) at that venue so nothing too surprising there one would think.

Do you mean the one on the grandstand wing in the first half? If so, Dey had called the Eagles player to hurry up but hadn't called play on when the Central player went over the mark. It was actually lucky not to be a 25 metre penalty earlier because he was a couple of metres over the mark initially but Dey didn't call him back.
