In all seriousness, fair enough to think it and then say it behind closed doors but to go publically??? Not sure that the modern gen y athlete really responds to that. Sounds good for the fans but the playing group??

I think it needs to be said publicly. The club has been abject failure this season.

That's my point the supporters and to a lesser extent some board and administrators like it but does it connect or improve the playing group? I appreciate it is selective quoting by the 'Tiser but when he has used the perpindicular pronoun to describe how he feels it can seperate him from the playing group.

As I said it may work and it may have been the style of communication he (Norman) related to as a player not 100% sure it is the best means. I mean there some pretty basic coaching maxims, Praise openly Criticise privately and you attract more flies with hunny than you do vinegar. Anyways he knows his players better than I do hopefully they respond for him. Bottom line though the fans sure like it.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The Sturt cheersquard were at it again Sunday
This time they sat in Baymans area near the scoreboard
Bayman had to sit elsewhere

Yeah but no spoon since 1900 is a pretty fine record for the teams from Port Adelaide.

So now Bayman (all due respects to you P) has a copyright on "Bayman" and a reserved area at F*^$#@G Alberton Oval!
Mal, if you have a serious gripe, either make a formal complaint or stop the nit-picking.

i think you'll find mal is trying to be humorous because in that scoreboard pocket there were two young attractive girls wearing 25+ year old ''sturt cheer squad'' track suit jackets (the old addidas ones)

ps, was happy to sit there ;)

This quote has lost me. But taking a stab, I'd say the first word is perhaps a mis-spelling of the word "perpendicular", which means straight up and down or upright. Combining that with "pronoun" would logically lead one to the idea of a pronoun which is straight up and down. ie "I". as in Norman's quote: "I am devastated."
If I am on the right track here what you are trying to say is that a coach would be better off using "we" or "they", rather than referring specifically to himself, when describing his emotions after a loss.
I have never come across the idea of the "perpendicular pronoun" before, perhaps it is one of those things that under the patronage of Gen Y has blossomed into a buzz phrase, but 10 years in Japan is my excuse for ignorance of standard English. Do me a favour by spelling the bloody thing correctly in future, it is hard to make the connection with an abstract idea if the writer shoots hs own credibility to shit with poor spelling.

When did Australians start using the word "Anyway" with an "s" on the end?
Am Bays, I want the words "perpendicular" and "anyway" written out neatly and correctly 100 times and posted on this thread before Tuesday night.

If you think I am just bitter because Sturt were abysmal on Sunday you'd probably be right.
**** everything!

Hey I had one of those. Unfortunately they didn't design them to get bigger and I had lot of growing still to do at the age of 13. I cut the sleeves off so I could still fit my arms in at age 15 or so, but that projected the wrong image of my usually peaceful, warm, fuzzy personality and it had to get thrown out as a result.

That is quality!

Pretty much got the same jacket.

1970s adidas three-stripe.

Accidentally wore it to a Port v Sturt match once...

I sat near the Cheersquad the whole game, I saw and heard nothing bad from them.

On the other hand, I had one Port supporter who felt it was his duty to sit amongst about 30 Sturt fans and even though the Sturt fans were shouting at the players, umpires etc on the ground, he felt the need to retort and make fun and bring up our goal kicking at the Torrens game... for someone who was an obvious expert on all rules and aspects of the game, I felt he could have spent his time better helping a team that had won 3 games up to that point actually do something this season.

Anyway, as a number of us have said on this forum, every club has wankers.
