PS - that goes for all supporters, but today those Sturt supporters deserve it.

Treeby standing in front of the Sturt Cheer Squad, DELETED is not the actions of a particularly smart club representative.

I believe a formal complaint will be lodged with the WWTFC with regards the antics of their reserves players.

Regardless of what morons do on behalf of either team, be it Torrens supporters or Sturt supporters, reserves players should know better than to get into verbal exchanges with the general public.

I believe the antics of Treeby were caught on video too...

Well if that is the other side of the story, then there is it is undefensible and very disappointing.

Agree, if it was a player involved, they should know better than that, not good at all...

If that's true, I believe the club needs to either tell him to pack his bags or not to play for a number of weeks. Again, I can't say anything more, but whatever happened, it's not on. Whoever started it, whoever finished it, it's unacceptable.

It will no doubt be a real "he said, she said" type situation. It will be hard to determine exactly what went on as even nearby witnesses may have only seen Sturt or Torrens supporters retaliate to some earlier provocation rather than see everything from the very start to the very finish.

WESLO could do themselves a favour by actually parking themselves in around cheer squads and nip these things in the bud well before they get out of hand. No one can tell me Eagles fans weren't rubbing it in, but likewise no one can tell me everyone in the Sturt cheer squad were acting like angels either.

Players or club officials though, any of them being involved, I think is a serious breach of conduct. If any Sturt official or player were involved in such an incident, I'd support having them ousted from the club.

Yeah, well done, I wonder if you gave yourself a pat on the back for coming up with that gem?

When I can get a bite out of one of the more level-headed and respected posters here, I have no need of self-administered back pats.

You may... I'd be grateful if you thrashed us by 100 points, it'd finally end the season and make things more relaxing... I hate hanging on like we are for an Elimination Final birth... they normally end in tears for us anyway! :-)

Spot on, mate, well said. It does boil down to the "he said, she said" on here. I just want to see the appropriate actions taken against the people it needs to be taken to. Eagles or not.

By an unfortunate case of bad timing I found myself and my two kids in the way when the "chase" occured.

(Please note my location was walking back from the club room to the Savings & Loans Family Friendly Area, this was at least 5m from the Eagles Cheer Squad and a good 15m away from the Sturt Cheer Squad. Also we were walking in a direction away from these groups and were about 5m from the Family Friendly Area.)

Most know I have a position at the Eagles so I will refrain from saying too much and save my report for official channels.

But I will share what my 8yo son told me becuase he doesn't have a position & it needs to be shared ....

"I was walking back to the tent (E-Zone marquee) with my sister and Dad and all of sudden Dad yelled at us to run back to the tent. I started to run back. then I was grabbed and hit in the face as a ***** supporter threw me out of the way. I was probably lucky, there was a big *** guy right behind him and he would have squashed me"

My only comment for now is surveying afterwards the reaction of other families and kids (including supporters of both clubs) is that my son was not alone.

I would appreciate if the mods could stop discussion on the incident. it is being looked at by the Eagles as they have been advised by Weslo staff that the eagles player incited the trouble with some stupid words as csbowes has mentioned.
I am dissapointed in myself and the cheer squad for reacting to
what was said and apologise to all footy supporters at the game.

It doesnt matter what Treeby said. Supporters taking it upon themselves to chase a player. Glad Treeby's punch connected.... hes probably not a guy I would chase after.

Im an Eagles member but play rugby on saturdays so miss most matches.........we are only 1 game off of the top three.... are we a realistic chance of cracking it? I saw the game we lost to Norwood and we were aweful. We seemed to lack a bit of leg speed

Based on the news reports Ive read Lewis appears to be a good pickup and its great to have Grocke back in the team. With the possible inclusions of Treeby and our AFL lister players gives us a strong team on paper... but based on the wins over North and Sturt are we good enough

Thanks for the PMs, I should add my son if fine (shocked at the time but thankfully he has the attention span of a nat).

He should now be running amok at a scout sleepover, then has footy tomorrow morning so hopefully all will be forgotten, at least until we go to Woodville Oval again.

OK no doubt it sounds like this matter will be taken seriously at a high level so can we please keep further comments on the game itself at least until formal comment from clubs is released.

Any future comments regarding the off field incident will be deleted, so dont waste your time.

Thanks

Yes, lets get back to the footy. Which was played with very few incidents, and was quite fair all round.

While we were benefitted again from inaccurate kicking by the opposition, you can only do what you do with your goalkicking. I thought we played better than last week, however some disposals were shocking. There was some interesting parallels with last week, the most striking was the 9.5 to 6.11 3QT scoreline. Last week, it was 9.3 to 6.10.

Ben Grieger did the captains role of greeting the umpires and Jade Sheedy in the middle before the game - it being his 50th. The two legends who were in the middle to toss the coin are on the Best of Both Worlds cover - Bob Hank and Malcolm Blight.

Dissapointed I missed Hank and Blight toss the coin.

Have we just won two games against ugly teams (in the past wins against Sturt and North were big) or are we on the way up?
