clearly barto's comment was a joke...come on folks....both our clubs are struggling..

good win blues, bad luck south, just win a few more so port can finish bottom.

blues need to back up next week or this season is fast going nowhere

Pretty much agree with you... there's been some good efforts of late, but we're still on the cusp of disaster really, we've gained a little on the top five, but not much, so lots of hard work to do... I'd like to see us string about 5-6 wins together...

jimmy, when you get belted by 115 points, you do tend to get a bit sensitive, It's after midnight now so I have gotten over it. (not really)

From a South point of view, one has to ask WHY such a performance was dished up? Perhaps foolishly I thought that the insipid, embarrassing performances that have dogged the past 3 years in particular were a thing of the past. Is Ron's no nonsense approach finally starting to rub players the wrong way? If so, don't bother coming back next week.

It's not all doom and gloom though. As mentioned, we've been in the majority of games this year half way through the final Q. Some belief and experience under pressure in those finals minutes would have netted us another 2 or 3 wins.

A dark day today however.

Mate, I know Barto well and he's a top football critic... but I have to say, I don't know what he was smoking when he said this... Barto, I think the sarcasm has been lost on us all.

I am thinking Barto may have been channelling Freddy (you might remember him as Enzo, Barto) an old school Sturt supporter who is NEVER satisfied with what the team achieved. On a day like yesterday he would have been loudly and proudly declaring we didn't kick straight enough and it should have been 33.2.200 ;)

that was not the Ron Fullers Panther outfit of 2010, it was 2007 to 2009 all over again. On the postive side, Ron fuller had made us very Competitive over the first 11 weeks, with the side in winning positions in the last quarter in 8 games and our biggest lose of the year before yesterday was 54 points. I think the glenleg and north games in rounds 4 and 8 were the only two games we weren't Competitive i thought against centrals we try but their class and experience overwhelm us in the third quarter. Who here thought it would take south twelve games to be beaten by more than ten goals at the start of the season. We are still on track for a much better year without focusing on the win/loss ratio that would was not the most impoprtant thing this year it was been competitive.

I remember him as Freddy as well. I heard the drums, Fernando.

Apologies to the sensitive souls on here. 250 points was a typo, I meant 50 goals. I'm also pised off at the club that Bar Zaar wont open their kitchen at 3am when I'm roaring drunk and want a kebab.

Fair enough when you only manage about 120 kicks for the day as a team.

South also named Crate and Carter as "best" players.

I don't know, still recall Jaxon Crabb getting a vote in the Advertiser Player of the Year when Centrals won by 195 points in 2002!

He hung up the boots last year. Returned to Claremont after getting de-listed by Port and ended his career on 188 games for the Tigers.

Pretty good player and is recognised with the Jaxon Crabb medal for games between Port and West Coast. ;)

To those loyal South supporters, few in number, but the best in the league. That Colin bloke, i see every time, unbelievable
loyalty. Even he was shaking his head so much his beanie was slowly being dislodged...
Not so honourable are the various football administrators at South land, who manage, with a few exceptions, to destroy a club that has been gifted a football oval by the State government and has pokies revenue the envy of most clubs.

Top bloke Col, his passion for South is only matched by his love of music. There's not been many gigs I've gone to where Col isn't there snapping away in the front row.

We were standing infront of Colin and co, I think it was in the 2nd quarter, they had just given a tirade towards the umps when South kicked in the ball from a point, it was a mongrel helicopter of a kick, dropped short and scooped up by a Sturt player. The moan of disappointment from Col was palpable, and it summed up the day for the South diehards beautifully......I couldn't stop laughing, felt bad about it but it was really funny, timing was perfect.

keep your chin up South supporters

compared to Sturt.....Saturdays team was young and inexperienced at league level

only two players over the age of 23 (Cockshell & Crabb both 23)

only one player (Cockshell 75) to play more than 50 games

injuries have hit the club bad and exposed the depth

getting games into these young lads and identifying talent is what will bring success

however it was the worst performance for the year

That'd be him. Always to be seen at indie gigs, saw him at the Governor Hindmarsh a couple years back on a visit, the Vascoe Era were playing and I was bored shitless at my sisters place up the road.

Call him "Col Baby".
