Clint Alleway has received a 1 match ban for striking Glenelg's Byron Murphy from this game...

That would explain why Murf left the field under the blood rule and subsequent all-in at half time.

It doesn't explain how Alleway ended up with the free, yet was reported and yet the player who caused the turnover of the free wasn't reported. Very strange umpiring, (and I'm not complaining about the ALleway decision just the umpiring which as usual probably added to the problem). I don't think it gave rise to anything at half time, Alleway certainly was not involved in any of the fracas at half time.

I think that you will find the all in at half time had its roots in a comment made at Glenelg last year, in which the umpire, a North player and all of the crowd in the left forward pocket misheard a comment. I believe that there is still bad blood.

You're a smarter man than that Robranisgod, you can be reported and receive a free kick if infringed agaisnt following your initial indescretion and not all free kicks lead to a report.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It was either a very soft decision or the umpire made an error in law in not reporting the Bay player as well. I was standing right at the spot where the incident occurred - I always stand there at the Bay - and I heard the umpire state clearly why he was reversing the free. It just seemed strange that he didn't then make a second report. I personally wouldn't have reversed the free.

Then again, standing in that pocket I clearly misheard the Bay player last year - when I misheard another word for "fat".

Told you. :D
