Just in case the buns for crowds mob are in a quandary over the figures the source I used for the 6611 I quoted in the opening post was the one given to the RPH guys towards the end of the game. So you can choose which is likely to be more accurate....would hate someone to get a muffin instead of a bun...or whatever ;)

The bad news is that Ricky Henderson Strained a Hammy, so i would imagine that Tex will go straight back

McKernan kicked 5 for South so should be a monty for selection this week.

That depends on whether Craig wants a full forward to kick goals, or to run around the half back flank all day.

Great to finally get a win, but disappointed we didnt finish it off with a 10+ goal win. Especially with our super list. Just ask beenreal.

We're only 2 wins from top!

the only consistency is inconsistency within the management and my sources from within the club tell me that this is wearing thin on the playing group and dragging down the players- who are beginning to lose confidence with the bullshit put forward to them

a) how does a player play round 1 after not showing up to a trial match and training 2 weeks either side without reason
b) how can a player jump from under 18s to league after r2 ? what message would this send to the reserves?
c) how can a player go from playing league in the first 2 rounds, getting dropped to the reserves round3 and then going back to the under 18s the next week
d) i am now also told a player played on the weekend after arriving at the game 15 mins prior to bouncedown, without even a phone call of his where abouts

maybe these issues are impacting on the players?

i cant see the magpies lifting off the bottom of the ladder

Points b) & c) don't strike me as strange at all. The others? Rumour and inuendo. I've seen nothing to indicate a lack of spirit within the group. What I have seen is a lack of manpower.

And Tony Bamford has already stated he'll be throwing the list around to find the best players.

And airing these allegations and quoting publicly from "sources" is going to help Port Adelaide how?

I watched the centrals sturt game yesterday, (you would not have thought they were last years grand finalists how one sided it was) and went to norwood and port. Norwood have only been belted in one game this year. You are all quick to say how bad we are, south only beat us by 5 points after being 5 goals down if we are that bad how bad was souths first half against us. the eagles took 3 1/2 quaters to finish us of. West had a 40 point lead and only won by 19. Port had players out one which is not yours anyway. That was not our best line up, we had three guys play last night who have played 4 league games between them this year. (cambell trotter and bown) I know we will not win many games but we will be more competetive than some of you are hoping.

I think b and c would be due to the SANFL rule on U18's playing reserves. Norwood had a similar sitution to the one you describe in (c).

Enjoyed the night obviously, but won't get too carried away with the result given where both clubs are at ... If anyone wasn't aware of where both clubs sat on the ladder, you only had to watch the behaviour of the crowd - Everyone supported their team, but there was a great sense of banter and humour and standing on the Hill it seemed more of a social occasion than footy match at times, it was kind of odd given past contests, but Im sure most would have had an enjoyable night.

As clubs often do under new coaches, both teams showed patches of excellent football but would let themselves down on regular occasion ... The spirit of both teams was very good, young Trengove made his intentions clear right from the start, which was great to see and what footy should be about.

I said to my mate (Port fan) as the 1/2 time siren sounded "Ok, now lets watch and see who starts a scrap" and within 5 seconds Bryce Campbell and one of the Port lads were letting some good jumper shots go.

Port as I understand are a very young outfit this year, and it probably shows, but they are very quick and not frightened to put their heads over the ball ... Once they can eliminate the skill errors that accompany a team in the position, they can well surprise a few teams - The cattle might not be there for them this year, but I applaud the dip they're having and can see some hope for them.

For us, well we're not too disimilar .. Need to keep working on making less mistakes than the week before, and then hopefully by the end of 2010 we're in a much better position (not ladder-wise) than we were at the end of 2009.

Agree there CP. Good to catch up with you on the hill too!

I thought the biggest difference between the sides was Norwoods ability to make the most of their forward forays. Taylor Walker was a leading light up forward and that's where Port just couldn't match it.

We looked great for a few minutes when Josh 'Red-dog' Thurgood got forward and took a couple of grabs, but that aside, we really broke down when approaching half forward.

Silly little skill errors cost both sides, but Port more-so, with Norwood making us pay on the scoreboard on most occasions. I dislike the crazy, suicide handballs that is currently dogging the AFL as a spectacle, which is creeping into the SANFL. Why don't coaches teach players to provide strong leads into space to provide team mates with a target and relieve pressure with a kick out of defence? That's a whole other issue.

It was a really good crowd I thought. As CP says, it seemed very much a social occasion rather than a meeting of bitter rivals. From my personal point of view, it was more to enjoy the occasion with the very real prospect of that being the last time we'll play the Legs at the Parade. I sincerely hope it isn't, as I had a great night.

South this week is a tough fixture in light of their current form.

Great night at the footy with plenty of beers, banter & humour in the crowd.
Norwood played well for longer periods of the game and had some really good passages of play.
We just need to be more consistent and make less errors.

I love the way campbell plays just hard at it,Phillips has improved and was No 2 for Norwood Schultz because he did some things that were very impressive.

Isn't the start of the week much better when your team wins on the weekend

Yes, Toby Schulz...

Has only played in the league team the last few weeks after starting the season in Norwood's reserves side. That goal he kicked in front of the Cooper's Hill faithfull certainly was a ripper and got the 5RPH goal of the game vote !!!

That was unbelievable. How's the audacity of the bloke to try it!! 2nd or 3rd leageue game, young bloke, massive crowd and he kicks a screamer like that. I guess, when you're on, you're on, so gotta make hay while the sun shines. Brilliant goal.

And what made it an even better goal was the fcat he was on the wrong side for a left footer in terms of the angle opening up. One of the best goals I've seen all year so far, although I was pretty impressed with Shaun McKernan's check side goal at Noarlunga yesterday !!

The more I ponder the game, the less concerned (but not disappointed) I am about the result. Yes the margin was the biggest for the season but the side was our most inexperienced as well, and a far cry from the squad that ran North Adelaide to 3 points.
