Nick Liddle was left in a pretty bad state after a rather 'zealous' tackle from Stribling. Liddle's head was ground into the turf during the tackle, and naturally his team-mates took offence to it.

South too unaccountable today. Blokes like Allen, Archard, Armstrong did as they pleased, the twins towers up forward presented all day, while Whyman was very impressive all day.

Yes, the PA sucks. South and Sturt fans pointed that out after Round 1.

I can't believe the supposed intelligent South supporters bringing up the FAIR TACKLE by Stribling! It happended in front of the umps and there was no free payed and at the time there was hardly a protest from any South player. It was only when he he started chucking soon after at 3 quarter time did South show their only 30 seconds of fight for the whole game! It is hardly Striblings fault that the ranga had a body size comparable to that of Ex North favourite Scott Bamford!

I agree that there wasn't a heap in it, but as I mentioned, he was pretty shaken up by it and this lead to be a bit of push and shove.

I have brought the PA issue up on the Panthers board - and quoted some of the posters from here, usually the board is watched by the club and issues addressed, so I will report back once I hear anything!

I have to say other than the volume and the "commentary" during the game you can't knock the SAFC for it's promotion of the game and activties. I must also say that Noarlunga also gets better in terms of facilities etc each time and their catering IMO is the best in the league and I just hope someone from the North Board notes how they do it and the variety of food etc on offer.

Why mal? We were lucky to win last week with him playing IMO (along with Stewart). Davis went ok for the Crows so good luck to him and YES I would have back for North in the back pocket where he "mops" up well.

Stewart had better brush up on his rucking skills because if he comes back in the next week or two it should be as back up for Craig off the bench because our fwd line looked good with Wundke at FF along with a very mobile Gill and then we can get Alleway back to permanent CHF and then we will have a very potent 3 talls up front.

I think in hindsight you may choose to retract this statement.

Completely agree with this. The catering is superb and easily the best in the league IMHO. Today was also the first time i had seen the new bar and pokies area and South have done a fantastic job with this.

1. financially secure
2. on field success
3. great catering at your home ground.

Every SANFL club has to choose at most 2 out of 3.

I really enjoy the ground announcer's feedback. I enjoy the interviews at the breaks wwith assistant coaches and media and possesions updates after the goals. I'm sure the club will cop plenty of crap from the traditionalists that wish all place still wore lace up jumpers like the good old days, but I reckon that its a great innitiative. Keep it going ... although please turn up volume in grand stand area where I sit as it could hardly be heard.

Also glad we are pizzing off so many noth supporters and thrilled to heard that most north posters on this site won't be back - hope they stick to their word.

** South Adelaide Sour Grapes Alert ***

Currently there are at least four grounds (not just Noarlunga) where the loudness of the PA system and the location of the speakers are making it nigh on imposible for radio stations to broadcast properly pre-game and during breaks.

I was at Glenelg but I understand another radio station today had to go back to the studio to play some music pre-match becuase the sound system was louder than the commentry team on the air. Bunton wherever you were in the grandstand where you could not hear much I hope they move the radio bench there (or build us something semi sound proof).

In an earlier game (not at Noarlunga) some around the ground crosses had to be cancelled becuase the person on the phone could not be heard above the PA.

If nothing else the clubs should be aware enough to point the speakers in a direction so it is not directly above or blasting directly into the radio & TV broadcast positions.

Outside of Aussie Rules in summer, I am a PA announcer for an American sport in Adelaide where I have done the role around Australia for 22+ years, this is over 500 games including 20 state finals and 4 national championship series. From that experience I can say it's always a fine balance between the PA/music enhancing the experience and hijacking it.

I have also discovered as I matured in the role that less is often better and music was a better setter of atmosphere than shouting.

Personally I didnt mind the Panther roar, you knew it was coming and it was over quick. It became something unique.

As for commentary besides important announcements, sponsor recognitions, culturally Aussie Rules fans are not used to it and being frank if they wanted stats updates, analysis and other verbal updates they would bring a radio.

Reeently on a promotional and game presentation front South have always been more progressive than others in trying new things, they are to be commended for that. Hopefully a balance will be found across the whole league.

If hypothetically no North supporters turned up that would have left you, a couple of others and their dog and a heap of volunteers! You lot should be thankful of the travelling support from all the other SANFL clubs!

PS we have roped of the 4 X 4 foot area you and the rest of the travelling South fans will take up at Prospect when you visit us!

To be fair we should also place 4 loudspeakers turned up as loud as possible in that area and have some w*nker commentating on every goal kicked by North.

Bunton, i'm glad you are happy that it annoyed the North fans but your side lost. Both sets of supporters had their senses insulted by the PA system but only one went home as winners. Enjoy your loss and as pointed out by on the rails, be careful what you wish for because if opposition fans don't turn up you will be stuck with a couple of hundred people including volunteers and what a waste of the excellent catering that would be.

Catering was great but whoever is handling the marketing down there should be immediately fired. I heard calls from both South and North supporters that they'd never be back as it was THAT annoying.
Ive just got back from the Chemist as I have a very bad headache from the pa and its moron announcer, thanks South and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Idiots.

HAHAHAHA! We got that crap in Round one. Agree that that announcer bloke is an annoying w@nker...

Did he continuously shout out: "and that's a goal for YOUR South Adelaide" ?

OF course there is always the option of making the car park area around Noarlunga like a drive in. At least then people could have the choice to plug into "Panther ******* radio" or not...

Hey klaan, no need to apologise because NO self respecting and half knowledgeable footy supporter took your thoughts on board let alone gave South any chance of a win ;) ;)

As I mentioned on another post previously, South's best possible scenario would be to finish the year in 7th position.

There haven't been scores from other grounds posted at any games I've been to this year , home or away. Mind you there was no other games on yesterday...piss poor though IMO

Ahh yes, the questioning was riveting, such a high quality it makes you wonder why he isn't already working in radio or TV

maybe if they split up the 4 speakers set to 100 bD + and spread them around the ground it may not be so bad, if someone had their music at a party 1/2 as loud as when the cheerleaders were on they would be sure to be fined. The ladies in the canteen were in pain, they couldn't block their ears and prepare food at the same time.

Bunton wrote: Also glad we are pizzing off so many noth supporters and thrilled to heard that most north posters on this site won't be back - hope they stick to their word.

If that were to happen the crowd would consist of about 50 SAFC volunteers and another 600 supporters, lucky you will be able to toot your horns for atmoaphere. ;)
there was a lot of Red & White yesterday, not a lot of Blue to be seen though.
