The radio commentators got it right. The lighting was great in the pockets and on the flanks but not so good across the middle maybe some more lights to be added on the grandstand will fix this (not sure if this is happening though).

Oh and I reckon the crowd was around 6000. It was a great night especially with Westies winning, hopefully more night games will be programmed in the future.

I'm pretty sure I've seen more games at Richmond than anyone else on here, and my guess seeing the crowd last night was very close.

Those saying it was 4000 to 4500 are way off.

Honestly expected west to flood after half time as they did last year on games when in front, but to play for whole game and put north away was most impressive, also to better north at run and fitness was the most suprising aspect i found.Still along way to go and north may have been underdone but if westies do continue to play with confidence and keep a simple game plan their season will be rewarded.

Only 11 North v West games at Richmond that have had a larger attendance.

9 Spectators short of beating the 1966 crowd but then the next highest jumps to 6890 in 1970. Our largest crowd was estimated at 14,000 against North in 1958 while the only other crowd to exceed 10,000 was in 1968 where the gate number was 10,413

A great night

How good was Adam Hartlett's 'DON'T ARGUE' on Marlon Motlop late in the game, magnificent !!

Also, Westies look as though they will have some depth this year with their reserves getting a good first up win and Power listed Rookie Daniel Webb kicking 7 goals out 12 !!

Totally agree. Motlop didnt know what hit him. Loved Ezards chase in the third quater, he sprinted at least 40 metres to chase down an opposition player, goes to show even the better players need to put in the 1 percenters

Excellent to hear that there was a great crowd last night. Let's hope the other games produce the same crowd result, and continue throughout the season.

It's SANFL time !

I went as well.

IMHO, the lights are better than Elizabeth and Norwood. The crowd to me was very quiet, perhaps indicating a one sided game and many neutral supporters.

The way Westies played, it didn't allow North to show much at any time.

Why would Champion Data know????????????

I've seen nearly every game at Richmond for a long, long, time.

I estimated about 6,000 and why would the official figure be wrong?

Do the Champion Data people include kids U/18?

Grandstand was packed and Richmond carries a lot of people between the fence and the grandstand, more than most grounds in the SANFL. 6000 does sound a lot but I would have said more than 4500.

Maybe that was after the mini NA exodus in the last quarter?

Great stuff by Westies. North very disappointing given the perfect conditions and the quality talls they had in their line up.

On the AdelaideNow blog they said that the Champion Data people (who should know) rated the crowd at 4000-4500?

From what I have read and heard West played a top game and out played North. North were not playing as well as expected. I am not getting ahead of myself on this I want to see how West come up next week. I am looking forward to this game and feel we will do well. But it is a long season
