FFS - GO BACK AND READ THE OTHER CONTENTS OF THAT POST!!!!!

The Magpies are not allowed to hold various activities at The Port Club, which included last night not being able to sell merch apparently.

This rules has come from the SANFL. It's an absolutely ridiculous rule.

I've never blamed the SANFL for ALL our problems. If you can find a post where I do that, dig it up and post away.

Port have manay challenges. Most are within the club, centering around generating an ongoing and reliable income stream. Some of the rules imposed on the Magpies by the SANFL are not helping.

Just like the (majority of) Port supporters have been doing with respect to the SANFL and its clubs over the last week?

Former Eagle and Crow Andrew Crowell was at Alberton last night, showing his support for the Magpies along with many current and former players.

I'd say the majority are very annoyed at the SANFL, but only a minority are going with the crazy line against other clubs.

I'm angry with the SANFL for the rules and restrictions it has placed on the Magpies.

I couldn't care less about the other clubs having voted against the merger. If they did so based on financial concerns, I'm sure Port would have also voted against a similar plan if another club was in the same position.

And as for the boycott proposal - that's just absolute madness and childish rubbish. I'll be at Elizabeth on Round 1. And I'm especially looking forward to North v Port in Round 8, not because of some stupid and ill-informed grudge, but because I now live in prospect and can walk to the game!!!

This comment is dissapointing although I do uderstand where the emotion behind that commnt is coming from.

In the early days of PAFC (ala Port Power) they really did show very little respect to the magpies and very little support.

I would suggest tht about 4 years ago the PAFC started to realise how dumb they had been with the PAMFC and started on the road to mending the relationship.

As for the merger, it is obvious as a business decision that PAFC saw advantages in it.

The SANFL in a backhanded way has heped the PAFC by stirring up a passion for the magpies that was lying dormant within a lot of magpie suporters.

I hope one day you can come to love the PAFC as much as you love the PAMFC.

Here is hoping dormant supporters like me keep up there renewed passion for the PAMFC as well

I really hope, now that the merge is long gone Port Magpies don't fall into the trap of letting the Power in on a 50-50 deal with the Prince Of Wales Hotel.
The Magpies were screwed in a deal with the PAFC years ago which left them now with 20-25% of nothing on game day at Alberton as it is. ( it use to be 15% )
For the Maggies to get back on their feet they need a white knight ( Gordon Pickard ) that'll help with clearing their debt & expanding the Prince Of Wales Hotel to accomadate for 500+, that way Port players & supporters can go back there for presentations after games knowing they'll recieve 100% of the turnover from their loyal fans. Gordon will be payed back like North payed Gerrard back interest free in 4 yrs & the Magpies will be debt free & strong again, something the other SANFL Clubs fear. The Power for too long have been screwing the magpies.
The Power were in a win-win situation whether the merge was successful or not, providing the Magpies fell over.
The Magpies surviving is a different kettle of fish to the Power, the Prince Of Wales remains the Magpies key asset & so too their loyal supporters, the Power on the other half want all the magpies supporters plus their Hotel.
I say stuff the Power, deep down i don't think they really give a sh!t about the Magpies.

The Port club has actually run at a loss the last three years according to the PAMFC and PAFC presidents last night and the Power have been bearing all of the costs. Hardly sounds like they are screwing the maggies.

It would appear that Pickard only wants to help the clubs if it brings them back together and the only way PAMFC will get his money is through the Power. So I would suggest you follow the lead of the PAMFC president who last night said that all Maggies fans should get behind the Power and vice versa because whether the other SANFL clubs agree or not we are all one football community.

I am a PAFC fan but after hearing both presidents last night I have signed up as a PAMFC member as well and will do all I can to support my clubs.

Agree 100%, but, some of the reason the people/club were fractured as they were is not the complete doing of the football club.

I'm not saying it was completely the fault of other parties, but other parties contributed to the ill feeling.

If in 97 we were to remain as one club, two teams etc I think the feelings around the club would have been a hell of a lot different.

Spot on and why would they? Haysman isn't a Port man so there's no altruism in saving the Maggies there, he wants the Power to be profitable.

Should've been a yes vote just to call the bluff.

Magpies fans are cursing the rest of the SANFL but in reality it could have saved them from the inevitable at the hands of the Power.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

This is what people do not understand! Opposition supporters are saying we're passing the buck etc, laying all our blame on the SANFL, which is rubbish. But there is a huge amount of ill-feeling generated by the conditions imposed on the Magpies in '96/'97.

Couldn't agree with your 2nd point more.

So the latest conspiracy theory to counter Port's theory that the SANFL wanted them gone is that it's actually PAP who wanted them gone and the SANFL are actually their friends and not the Power?

Jebus, too much spin for me!

Question for Magpies people - have past players of the PAMFC been "rallied" to kick in a decent donation each? $500-$1,000 per past player with 50+ games, for example? All those premierships - now would be a perfect time for them to step forth and show their passion stills run thick. Just another idea...not sure if it is on the radar anywhere. ???

Personal thoughts only on that....I wonder how much more many players can give to the club. There are many ex-SANFL players with long term health issues from injuries sustained through full blooded commitment to the cause and the jumper over the years. Certainly can be argued that a number of them have been well paid for it too, and have benefitted from increased profile and opportunities that may not otherwise have had, but there are also players with 50+ games service who really wouldn't have made a lot - comparably - financially from the game. Add into that years of giving a huge time commitment to any club through training, playing, functions, meetings etc and I'm just not completely convinced that past players should be expected to commit even more to the club. I might be wrong on that, but just throwing it out there.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...
