Yeah, I did notice that too but I wonder whether or not the reserves will starting early or not...

There is sometimes up to 25-30 minutes gap between the ressies game finishing and the league game starting so I think leaving the 2nds start time of 11.15am. Time will tell I guess...

i'm amazed that there is a monday game after anzac day (sunday) as historically anzac day is celebrated on anzac day & no holiday would be in vogue next year, great draw imho

Anzac Day is a bit of a weird one - the public holiday is always on the actual day, except for when it falls on a Sunday, in which we have a public holiday on the Monday. The march, services, etc would be on the Sunday, but shops, etc will most likely be closed on both the Sunday and Monday. Doesn't make sense that that an Anzac Day on a Saturday doesn't result in a public holiday on the Friday or Monday though.

For Norwood:

No season opener
As Columbo pointed out, Rd 1 is a twilight game and the next 6 games are night games. It isn't until Rd 8 that we play a genuine afternoon game. That also means no ABC TV broadcast for the first 2 months of the season.
Our first home game is vs South on Thursday night of Easter (last yr we played them at Encounter Bay at Easter).
We play 7 night games all up - 5 are at Norwood.
We have byes in rounds 9, 15 and 20, but with Rd 18 being a split round we are a bit "stop start" between rounds 15 and 20 playing 4 games over 7 weekends.
Of the top 5 from 2009, we play 3 of them three times each - Glenelg, Eagles and Sturt. We play Glenelg away twice, and the Eagles away twice (albeit once each at Thebarton and Woodville). We play Sturt at home twice. The Rd 21 night game goes up against another night game at Richmond.
We dont play Central until Rd 11 at home, and then once more in Rd 17 away.
We only play Port twice.
We play South twice as well, along with North.

Looks a bit different in 2010 to previous years, that's for sure. The draw is going to end up being a night league at the rate all the clubs want to play night games at home these days. With Norwood having only two games vs Port and no season opener, and our first home game a night match against South, home match attendances could be down this year.

The ANZAC Day match in 2004 was on the holiday Monday (26th) and there were no matches on the 25th (Sunday).

This also happened in 1999, 1993, 1982, 1976, 1971, 1965, 1954 and 1948.

This will be the first time that matches will be played on both ANZAC Day (Sunday) and the holiday Monday.

I think there's a question mark over the standard of the lighting, which Centrals are investigating.

Granted its been mentioned by other teams, but Richmond and Thebbie haven't had any competitive SANFL games yet under their lights but they get far more than a ground that has hosted them for 3 season?

For all we know, they might be worse.

I think this was at Central's request.

That is incorrect Bayman. Traditionally when Anzac Day has fallen on a Sunday the march and then the footy have been held on the Monday. It is only when Anzac Day is on the Saturday that there is no holiday for most of us. I can go back to 1965 when South played Port on Monday 26th April. South won easily but Peter Darley hurt his knee. Then in 1971 Sturt beat Glenelg in a quagmire. Rick Davies made his name that day by continually one grabbing the ball in horrendous conditions. In 1976 Glenelg beat Norwood at Footy Pak on Monday 26th, still no game was played on the Sunday, Anzac Day. In 1982 the Bays and Port drew in wet weather, also at Footy Park on Monday 26th April. In 1993 North beat South by 7 points at Adelaide, I think that Port played the Bays at Footy Park also on April 26th but someone like Spelly would have to verify that. In 1999 the game was played on the Monday and I reckon that it was again in 2004, but once again Spelly would be able to verify that. IN other words, when Anzac Day falls on a SUnday we get a holiday Monday and that is when the footy is usually played. What might be confusing you is that Jeff Kennett took away the Holiday Monday if ANzac Day fell on the Sunday. Thus the Collingwood Essendon game will be on the Sunday.

Disappointed there isn't more night games at Elizabeth but good to see Thebby and Richmond under lights, both much closer to home for me !!

Now have a date to count down to, bring on March 26th !!!

Why would Centrals request less night games?

That may be so but I'm sure they'd still want night games regardless

You may be sure but you're actually wrong. Which you would find out if you asked someone at the club.
I believe Round 23 may also be a night game if they're happy with the lighting.
