Got a long way to go before you're more successful than Norwood
You're grasping at straws. 11 of those Premierships before the turn of the 20th Century. The next 7 before the end of the WW2 and the remaining 9 strung out for the next 60 odd years. More notably just the 1 in post AFL era....
Regardless, Port have proven SANFL success has little to do with the potential to repeat it on the big stage. Marketability has greater weight than past glories and even if the CDFC were the favoured entity it would have nothing to do with their domination of the SANFL in the past 10 years.

I dont think the SANFL will enter another side in the Afl, even after their success with the Crows and Power. I still cant understand why they wont support their biggests asset and cash cow, the Magpies, (The real Port Adelaide). After all its an arm of their company that is failing from their own purposes, AFL football and Port Power which they franchise........

Pst humbug get ya facts right !!!! since 1964 thats right when Central entered the League.

Central 8 Flags
Norwood 5Flags

Norwood as a club 1878
Central as a club 1964

So i think for a very young club we have done quite well with many more flags to come .

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SANFL 2000 - 2011 Central District 12 consecutive Grand Final appearances and 9 Premierships.

Isn't it amazing that the once you loved Port or you hated them in the AFL is now you love Central or you hate them! I would love to see Port knock off Centrals in a GF

As for Norwood in the AFL..... I want to get a few more premierships under the belt in the SANFL first! I remember when we won in 97 and I thought, thank **** for that, it's been a long time since 84, 13 years, at least I won't have to endure that again!!! ... 97- 2010 and I can't see us winning one next year either :(

Years since last premiership ....

Centrals 0
Eagles 4
Sturt 8
Port 11
Norwood 13
North 19
Glenelg 24
West 27
South 46

a bit embarassing for some so called successful clubs here

And if Centrals were formed in 1888, we would have won more.

Irrelevant.

To keep this debate going can someone tell me , if Port was formed as a club in 1870 Norwood in 1878 how many teams were in the league at that time and also the split of teams during the decades whenthey won all their flags very interesting.
ie was a ten team comp or a four team comp.

The standard has never been any better we get the best players coming over from all over Australia to play in this comp what it is most clubs in the SANFL now cannot compete with a fiancially and administratively strong Central, when Central entered the comp in 1964 Port and Norwood were the financial and administrative powerhouses Central had nothing, so the old argument that it is not the SANFL does not hold up, player wise we have the best from around the country, but crowds are down because the VFL/AFL has destroyed local footy and it will continue to do so.

It really comes down to jealousy and envy, as posters on this site have mentioned on numerous occasions we are the most hated because of our success.

the whole argument that the standard has dropped and centrals flags mean less is crap. if it has dropped it has effected all clubs the same way, centrals included.

how can the standard dropping effect different clubs in different ways? if anything the standard supposedly dropping, causing less quality players to be availabls should make it harder for a club to maintain such a high consistency. it may make it easier to "jag" a lucky premiership if all of the good players end up in the one place at the one time, but to make it to the last game for ten years straight is not lucky. it is making the best of what is available.

every year centrals lose players form their premiership side, and replace them with mostly home grown players (and a select few targeted from elsewhere) yet they maintain their high standards. personally i think people that try to de value their dominance with the "diminished standard" defence is clutching at straws.

Ps, i do hate you guys(meaning centrals), but i do admire the achievent, and no one will ever be able to take it away from you.......bastards!! ;)
