just happy for the lads they could win today....great game to listen too all night...made my weekend.

unfortunately not flying back but id love to be there.

unlucky bays, i wont brag or put your team down, both sides fought tooth and nail and sturt just took their chances more often.

rest up blues as next week is going to be tougher than today.

Congrats lads :D :D

It actually was the start of June...and there'd be a few Dogs supporters who would back me up on that for claiming that Sturt supporters in the cheersquad were saying that the SANFL should hand them the cup right there and then during that C.D. VS Sturt match at Unley in June...

WOW! What an absolutely phenomenal performance by Sturt, I gave them no chance and had all the money I won from the Magarey/Brownlow/AFL GF on it for the Bays to win by more than 3 goals, how wrong I was. Sturt supporters should be very proud of their lads, good to see Thurstans not do a serious injury as it looked ugly at the time.
Trengrove, I'll say it again, WOW! Star in the making!
My thoughts are with Bays fans, Im lucky enough to have never had any of my clubs come top but go out in straight sets, it must be a terrible terrible feeling.
Nice change with Central having 4 different opponents in 4 years.

Funny stuff that. Our neighbours packed up the car the day before and headed off.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Great game of SANFL footy. Well done to Sturt. Trengove what a star, he has gone up a few draft picks with todays performance. Sheedy Coad Bowen and Crane were also inspirational at times for the Blues. They just stuck at it after an ordinary start and made the most of their opportunites.

As for the bays as like the Saints yesterday I guess, they just missed to many shots on goal. Grima Ruwoldt and Button the main offenders. A sad ending to what was a great season for the bays. i thought they missed Benny Mules in the back line. To the bays fans its little consolation i know but your boys had a real crack and you could make arguments were the better team on the day. No doubt youll be up as a contender again next year.

Bring on the GF. Pumped.

Just checking is straight sets a verb ? ;)

Consolations to the bays and their supporters. Finishing monir premiers and not making the GF is the worst feeling. I know from 79 (I think - the year Duckworth won the Magarey). They played well all season and were definite improvers. That must be the fist time a team has gone out in consequative games for less that a goal.
We used to be good :-(

well done to the blues they took their chances we didnt
WHAT THE F##K WAS MICKAN thinking taking sellar of in the last 5 mins sturt never looked like scoring in the last 1/4 until sellar went off me thinks its time to get plan b and c and lose plan a as plan a doesnt win when it counts we are the most under achievers in history call it what you like CHOKERS EASYBEATS i cop it sweet as its the truth, wasted season as was posted earlier this is much harder to accept than when we couldnt beat a div 8 team.

:D Ahem.....first up. Where do I start !

The Ol' Bays never cease to amaze us long standing Glenelg supporters ( 36 years ). We were the luckiest team this year no doubt. I said it many times, and we were flattered to be given top spot. The Doggies have been playing possum for the last third of the year. And I feel poor ol' Sturt will have their blue blooded heart ripped out of their arses next week. BUT at least they got there ( from 3rd position no less ). They thoroughly deserve to be playing against the best team of the year ( no....make that the DECADE ). But I feel the dynasty will come to an end soon. If last years loss in the " Big One " was the " one that got away "......what do you call that one then !

I knew after last weeks cough up that we were gone, and wouldn't be surprised to go out in straight sets. All you Bay fans that kept a lid on it, the side " cocked up for you " ;)

Back to the drawing board. Who will go. Macca, Toddy and a few retirements no doubt may put us back to mediocrity. Back to the good ol' days of 3-4 wins a season......time will tell !

Enjoy the cricket season !

Great game today, probably the best game I have seen this year, two teams that wanted a win & were both in it to the end. I thought Sturt played the more efficient & better football, the Bays wasted many chances at the goalfront. Perhaps they need our forwards coach...Simon Feast :) :) . ( Just kidding ).
I feel for the Bays fans, it must stink to finish minor premier & not make the Grand Final. I think the top 3 teams this year are very, very even & the team to miss the Grand Final would always have been the hard luck story. Keep your chins up guys, I am sure you will still be tough to beat again next season , & good luck to your other grades next week.

Was puzzled by the non free kick to Ruwoldt after he missed the easy goal in the second, quarter, a Sturt player run straight up to him and bumped him to the ground, only 2 weeks earlier that was worth another free kick as happened when O'Hara breathed on Sharples.

Thought Sturt's determination was obvious today, and they really appeared to relish the opportunity to shake the monkey off their back that had been Glenelg for a few seasons .. A few of their players finally stopped allowing themselves to be victimised by the Bays and took some massive strides in maturity.

The Bays erred firstly by allowing Sturt to gain momentum whilst they were well within touch on the scoreboard, because once Sturt start running and getting to the ball first, they can slice up the best of sides as they are very skillful and classy.

I fear that 3 torrid weeks might take their toll on the Blues next week against a fresh and finals hardened Dogs, but hopefully both teams play to the best of their ability ... If they can then we are in for a belter of a GF, best of luck to both of them and commiserations to Bays fans who would need doubt be feeling as though their hearts have been ripped out at the moment.

Oh and btw, both sets of supporters should be commended today ... I live not too far from the ground and was watching it on TV at home and the few times I ventured outside you could quite clearly hear the crowd.

As others have mentioned, young Trengove looks an exceptionally bright prospect .. For the Bays, I really like the look of that Adlington lad.

Meant to add Sheedy and Trengrove were very good for Sturt today alomng with Sturts ability to hit the hot spot something we didn't do.

Lot of thinking to do at the Bay over the next few months. Will be interesting of our two GF sides (ressies and 18s) who want to stand up and be league footballers next year.

I notice it took Centrals six years after making their 1st GF in 1995 to build their dynasty.

We're in this for the long haul.

That was absolutely sensational. I am particularly pumped as I have just booked flights for my son and I. In 2002 my boy was too young, but now I can share a speacial day and get to hand down the tradition. I do genuinely feel for Bay supporters. A part of me feels that was supposed to be the GF. Footy is a funny game isn't it? Centrals are unbelievable though. Very excited, well done boys.

Well done Sturt, took the most of the opportunites presented....we simply wernt ruthless enough, the 2nd and 3rd quarters we just went thru the motions when the game was there to be won...

Now isnt the time for knee jerk reactions....

Good luck to both teams next week....
