no offence to journalism or media intended, but unless WAFC have Jason Akermanis playing for them i doubt any players are going to come out and say how bad an idea it is, collins is a joke, im disguted and leaving the club, im sure these players would have been told the club line on this matter. What players say to the media and what they feel is two different things on most occasions.

That article proves my point further, there is a bloke who has put in all the hard yards for a number of years (including this season) at his beloved Westies, he has EARNT a oppurtunity, for him it would be a true highlight to play in the riverland game, yet his a good chance of missing out for some bloke who is "Unsure what he wants in football"

I will be very interested to see how many fringe players are still at West Adelaide next season.

For people who believe you work hard and earn everything in life this is a real kick in the guts. I mean my back isn't sore this week and i could get up to Waikirie please give me a game.

I must admit though i ended up reading all the sports articles and the riverland weekly was a great read, how often do they update there site and when are the latest editions published on-line, it's definately worth the read.

I'd also think the Westies boys would be thinking about the long term benefit of having a bloke like Bennett, with 78 games experience, back at the club next season, a season in which the club is definitely looking to play finals.

Gosh, can't believe I'm defending the Bloods!

Ryan Bennett has played 5 games I believe, certainly nowhere near 78.
I find this decision as bizarre as the other posters do and, on the face of it, I don't like it. But Collins is a very smart coach with a long-term view and I can only assume that he has a good reason for doing it and that he's squared it with the playing group. Personally I can't see it working this Saturday but I hope he kicks a bag.

Sorry, I thought I'd seen that 78 figure somewhere else.
Maybe 78 games, including reserves, not sure.

I find it very strange.

Maybe if the ressies were playing and he got a game with them, but straight into the league?????

IMO they have misjudged this one. We need a full forward at WA that is a given (not having a go at Willits he is more useful in other positions) and I think this is what they are focusing on.

Fair enough he was recommended to the club by the Amazing Ricuitio (or however you spell it) but what does this say to fringe players?

The morale at the club is the best I have seen since 2003 for both fans and players.

Risky Risky Risky

God I hope they know what they are doing

I can understand why there is some speculation about this choice being made by Westies, but maybe as someone else posted earlier, we should reserve our judgement until after his performance (or lack there of it that's the case) on the weekend.

Appreciate the responses fella's.

From my point of view I am only concerned with my clubs efforts to consolidate their spot in the top three!

With Coad to come back into the side after suspension and the possible inclusions of Button and Reilly I am tipping the Blues to return to winning ways in a closely fought contest.

What type of player is this bloke? It might work out well for Westies if he's a tall forward, as Sturt are struggling big time for height in defence.

Westies have lacked a strong marking fullforward.Bennett fits the bill strong mark and a magnificent kick.No one in the reserves has kicked a bag of goals so why not give it a go.Collins is no fool.At worst Bennett kicks a couple of goals.Well done Andy always thinking outside the square.Westies by 3 goals. There is a self belief at the club.

Michael Pettigrew is an OUT for the Power this week...

I know he hurt himself at training yesterday but he could have been dropped and would be a huge inclusion for the Bloods line up.

At worst he kicks no goals and hardly touches the pill.

No, with Westies, unless something changed that I don't know about ???

Not sure when he last played for the Bloods but I remember him playing for them against Central at Adelaide Oval in 2004 on Anzac Day, that could have been be the list time ?

Westies would be the early favourites for this game. playing the better footy at the moment.

I agree that West are playing better footy than Sturt. We haved more quality overall but it'll be a close one...
