Hey spelly, could you post a Chambers + all other clubs "premiership table"? Might be interesting
:D

Chambers premierships - 0
Centrals premierships in his time - 5 (possibly only 4)
Eagles premierships in his time - 1

Simple really.

ST...

simple it is...when all you needed to do was put a '1' in the chambers column...back on the yellow bus ST, its milk time ;)

If we get back to our 2nd half of 2007 form - consistent wins - instead of this chook raffle form we have, we may. And the side is definitely capable.

In that case I wouldn't be surprised if he DID get reported. The incident I saw (and referred to in my last post) also invloved Smith...and the book definately came out.

Funny really, at half time in the crowd we were discussing which Sturt player was most likely to be the first to get thumped behind the play by Gowans at the restart (cos we know they are both such sore losers)

The trouble is "Purch" if your team over the last 10 years had players like the Gowans you might have a few more premierships on the shelfs at Unley because there is NO and i repeat NO players of ANY other team in the last decade that we would swap them for.
As for discussing who they would hit behind play,i think you will find they do it behind in front to the side of play and if his brother had not been injured you would probably get good money on Chris hitting James.
Come finals time they will be there and you all know what that means, number 8 coming up!!!

Be that as it may Sturt were way to good today and even though we had players injured early i dont believe that would have made to much difference today as Sturt were on song,we were beaten in the ruck and had no forwards to speak of i cant think of one position we actually won on the day.We have these sort of games every year (Eagles/North) last year but we are always up and about when it counts.

The biggest issue for Sturt is the ability to back up this win the following week which as shown by the Eagles is not easy to do.

The dogs were just terrible today. Losing J. Gowans (massive corky) and Sibenaler (hamstring) didn't help, especially when Hardy went down later and Griffin's carrying an injury! But there's still another 17 blokes who were beaten to the ball, couldn't keep possession of the ball and couldn't get it off their opponents. Sturt will be happy with the win, and the margin will look nice but I'm sad to say they will get no bearing on where they are given how inept the dogs were. Several tried hard in the second half to earn some credibility but really none hurt the opposition. Callinan bobbed up a couple of times early, Hardy did well on Chambers for the most part and Williams battled away. But not even those guys were even close to 4 quarter performers.

The dogs have a nicely timed bye this week, hopefully Gowans and Sibenalers injuries aren't terribly serious and Griffin will relish the break. Havelberg, Cochrane and Goodrem will be close to returning as well. I thought this 4 week patch with the state game, 2 tricky games then a bye would be awkward, especially after winning all 9 before the state game. We now just need to sharpen the skills in the next 4-6 games then build fitness for a month leading into the finals. Not a good day, but means very, very little in the context of the season IMHO.

For Sturt, it's pretty hard to pick out any stand outs. Obviously plenty of midfielders got a heap of the ball, and the ball use was pretty good but when it's so easy to get and use the ball they should all look good. Even the key defenders looked like midfielders because they had no forwards to worry about marking.

i'll take an 85 point win anyday but its only june... sturt need to ensure a top 3 finish and that injuries are kept to a minimum and the guys are playing like this come rd 23.

but still, it must hurt just a little ;)

silly nick smith if he did wipe blood on a thugs jumper...might get a week or more likely a wrist slap with the way the sanfl tribunal is...i think its his first time up there.

Relying on one opposition team to beat another, for a chance to go second on the ladder, sounds like a marvellous position to be.

First, well done to Sturt. Played some fantastic football today, and taught Centrals a lesson.

As for Centrals, they were a disgrace today. No other word can describe that disgraceful performance. 2 goals after quarter time (and one was from a Sturt brain fade) - PATHETIC. How many times did Sturt have loose players inside their 50. How many times did Centrals kick it straight to a Sturt player. Am I right in saying our last inside 50 for the second quarter was at the 4 minute mark (when Griffin kicked it out on the full). How often did the players not even attempt to make an effort. Hell, we were slower than Tiger Airways preparing a plane for boarding!

To say 'None played well' for Centrals was an understatement. The players should be ashamed of themselves for that effort.

357 disposals to 252 and 106 marks to 58, Sturt absolutely smashed 'em in the midfield.

Umm are West going to beat Glenelg?? I can't see North getting to 2nd until the end of June - pending results.

Glenelg, West, South, Port, Norwood and North all behind Chambers.

I stand corrected, Jimmy. '1' it is, he must have made the difference on that day late in 2002.

Weather wasn't that bad.
Reilly played well.
Sturt's pressure and tackling was intense.
Sturt's skills were very good.
Centrals were a rabble.
Sturt outmarked, outran and played centrals into the ground.
Smithy gave back a bit of what he got, nothing that a Gowans wouldn't have done.
Every dog has it's day and I think the Gowans' day is up. Only the umpires can help them now.

nah west dont have to beat glenelg,
it will be
Glenelg 9 and 2
North 7 and 3
Sturt 7 and 4
Centrals 7 and 3
eagles 6 and 4 and 1 draw. depending on percentage
if North Beat Sturt and Centrals, Glenelg beat West and Sturt and Centrals have a Bye then play North with the doggies and Roosters one game up their sleeve

yep, I would be very happy with that but all due respect I can not see it happening. Seriously on todays form you have to tip Sturt to beat us as we were very rusty, especially our disposal. A decent team (North, Sturt, Centrals) would've beaten us today, IMO.
