During the pre-season and first few games, I copped a bit for suggesting the Eagles "boom" recruit in Cheep was just an ordinary player. ;)
- My question is, where is the 09 solution to the Eags midfield ?

Indian bookmakers have refused to rig any sporting events in Aus, as a protest against racism. Still, I tipped the Legs in the footy comp. Eagles still look like the ones to drop out of the five.

Like we said to some Eagles supporters last week the win over the doggies will mean nothing if they cant back it up the following week. They assured us that this was the turn around for there season and there would be no looking back,oh to look them in the eye now and see what they would say!!!!

Well, not that I got carried away by last weeks performance but I agree with you DB. The Eagles get themselves up for games against Centrals (apart from GFs) and serve up what they did today against teams that they should be beating. Anyone that suggested that we were on our way did so in hope IMO!

Thankfully though we have supporters like Micky and Holden who can point our problems out!

Why was this result such a shock ?
3 times in about the last 4-5 games at Woodville/Thebarton NW has thrashed EG

Where was Trevor Hill today ?

When you think about it there is money to be made. The players or clubs could work out a roster of who loses a few games and looks hopeless then has a surprise win at big odds, and all the players and clubs in the know have backed them. Then they are favourites next time and its their turn to throw one. The tricky part is juggling the roster so it doesn't look quite so obvious... 8)

That might explain the Aussie cricket teams fluctuating form too.

Matt I give due when they are due I am not like Holden (no offence holden).I love my eagles and I can see who should be the next coach .Look at the two's they keep winning against everyone except sturt .
Yes I get over excited and yes I have taken my blood pressure medication this morning .
I will just add to your comments against Teams like the Dogs we can do well. But against teams that play that running AFL style we as a club struggle .Why we struggle in the league when the rest of the club can win is baffling many fans .

"G" He is playing his butt of in the seconds .where on reflection many VFL recruit players should start other wise they can and do find the pace of SANFL hard to adjust to.
But along with other players he should be in line for a recall in coming weeks .I should ad he was dropped after the sturt game and was one if not the only one who got in and got the ball . why he was dropped was a question asked by a few fans.

Eagles midfield only seems to work against teams that play man on man ie Centrals . Mackenzie worked well yesterday and thats about it .Cica wasn't given much of a go but looked slow against the speed of Norwood.

The Eagles are becoming a bit of a jeckyl and hyde sort of side - our best is brilliant but our worst is deplorable. Without a shadow of a doubt our worst effort of the season. Not taking anything away from Norwood who played brilliantly all day and thoroughly deserved their win. There has to be several questions asked of some of our players. That was a 2nd rate performance - quite insipid actually. To kick 3 goals in the 1st quarter and then only 2 more the remainder of the game is pathetic. The buck stops with the players not the coach on this occasion - they lacked heart, committment and pride yesterday. To put it frankly it was an embarrasing performance. Changes now need to be made starting with the inclusions of Passador, Salter, Rimmington and Symmons.

The highlight of the day yesterday surely had to be the young lad at halftime who pocketed $1000 for the goal he kicked - The crowd rode every bounce his kick took and went up in unison when it crossed the line.

Well done to the Eagles on such a great initiative, and obviously well done to the little fella!! :D

Here are the changes that need to be made for the next game:

In J Wright, Cheep, Salter, Rimmington, Passador, Shirley, R Fiacchi, Symmons, Jacky
Out Daniel (rubbish), Schultz (trys hard but b grader at best), Cullen (rubbish), Miles (b grader), Banner (not ready), Corbett (b grader), fitzgerald

Norwood had something to do with the Eagles' poor perfromance yesterday, but that's something that appears to have escaped peoples' attention.

It definitely was the highlight for us Eagles supporters! It was great to see! Very good entertainment for those of us sulking on the hill at half time!

No, most people have acknowledged Norwood played very well and absolutely dominated. Given that we can't do anything about the opposition, it's only natural to look at what your own side can do to improve.

We could surely win with 23 players. Tend to agree though, except I don't rate Wright at all and wouldn't have him in the team and I'd keep Fitzgerald. I'd probably only include one of Passador or Salter (I'd lean towards Salter). Who would be 2nd ruck? We can't have Dabrowski carry the side alone for the rest of the season and I'd be reluctant to take McGregor or Grocke away from their positions.

Salter is still proppy with his knee so you can rule him out......

Passador needs more match fitness......

don't be surprised to see Goldsworthy and possibly Smith and Baddley get promoted soon.....

Yeah, that was a cracker! I told the missus two things when I got home; first, that we had won and won by 75 pts, and then the story of the young kid's big day out and that the biggest cheer from the crowd all day was at precisely the moment the second last bounce of his kick dribbled across the goal line! 8)
