Question to dogs supporters (and everyone else).

Start with the side that took the park on Sat. Who would you specifically remove from that side and which FIT Centrals player(s) do you replace them with?

To specifially answer your queestion I would have had the Gowans, O'Sullivan and maybe O'Hara in instead of Wright, Schmidt,Meyer and Martin. Add to that I would have considered seriously having more Dogs players in and probably would have picked a few ahead of players like Gum.
No disrespect meant to some of the players that were picked, but the Dogs do have players who were better which is no insult.

Mind you if I had my way I would have just sent the entire Central team (seriously!), it might sound silly but not only are they the dominant team going around as they play together week in week out and no each other I think they would have dominated. That's a bit too far out of the circle and would never happen though.

Darel hart has shown an inclination for picking young guys in his squad over the past few years - fair enough.

Out of Schmidt, Dutchke, Wright and Martins I know who I'd pick. Seriously Scott Dutchke is one of the best young blokes going around the competition . I haven't seen him deviate off the line too often and he is good around goals in the small forward role.

I think those four blokes are pretty much spot on wedgie. Another bloke who you could question his selection ahead of a few Centrals blokes was Evans.

Don't get me wrong Evans like the other four names are all good players but would you rather them in your side comapred to Dutchke, the Gowans' O Hara and O'Sullivan?
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think the main 4 that were unlucky from the Dogs were O'Sullivan, Gowans x2 and O'Hara.

Scott Dutschke was unlucky considering who was picked ahead of him. Same as Jason MacKenzie, i would have had him in before Dabrowski and Parry :? but not before Cranston or Meikeljohn.

After speaking to a couple of these lads, these guys have definately taking there non selection as a snub of sorts and are pretty pumped up to prove that their in the best 22 footballers in the SANFL.

Surely the "us against them" chip on the shoulder dissapated after the fourth or fifth premiership

your right, but these guys have a lot of belief in their ability, and for them to sit and watch the state team which they care about so much, run around with the players who were out there, i personally think from their reaction that they found it insulting.

So going on those changes for the team that was named and played, something like this?

FF: S.Dutschke B.Chambers R.Ferguson
HF: B.Backwell C.Alleway C.Gowans
CL: J.Gowans J.Allan L.Treeby
HB: L.Panozzo D.White (vc) C.O'Sullivan
FB: R.Williams C.Ah Chee B.O'Hara

1R: T. Cranston J.Clayton J.Sheedy (c)
INT: C.Parry C.Evans T.Allen B.Zorzi

Personally I thought Gum was excellent for us except for his last qtr OOF.
And Evans was among our best with 3 goals therefore justifying his inclusion.

I thought Gum was good too but I'm going on what I would have selected before the game, not after.

Not going to bother starting a new thread for it, but did anyone go the the State Under 18's v Under 20's game at Prospect on Saturday ?

I couldn't see any results in the Sunday Mail and haven't looked in today's 'Tiser yet. Any better players or goal kickers from both sides ?

I would have thought a good starting point would be to start with the best side (centrals) and then look at how you could improve it. Perhaps you wouldn't have many dogs players left in the end, but we're trying to put together a team, not an honour roll of the 22 blokes Darel Hart likes best.

Oh please please please someone pass me the tissues.
How many excuses can you bunch of sooks come up with ?
Umpires,Gowans,selections, what else ?
What a fantastic result - 1 point
The arrogance of some of you posters pre game was beyond belief.
When S.A beat the Vics last year all you loud mouths come on the VicFooty site and shot your mouths off about how S.A can now lay claim to the best comp outside the AFL.
Now all the same sooks are saying one game does not prove a thing about whos the stronger comp outside the AFL,so you cant have it both ways girls.
Well done W.A you've put a massive smile on the faces of all Victorians.
Now back in ya boxes for at least another 2 years before you get to shoot ya loud traps off again and get it all wrong again.
Ah hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha i've never slept so well in my life.
One other thing worth mentioning is a Vic born and bred boy playing for S.A in the state game last year against Victoria told me he felt physically sick putting his state jumper on coz he hated it so much.
Might be worth playing some S.A boys who love the jumper in future.
Until 2011 suck eggs S.A

We were with the players and coaching staff standing outside Leederville Oval waiting for the team bus that never showed up (that's another story !!) when Michael Godden started pissing himself laughing.

I asked him what was so funny and he mentioned about the picture message the Gowans boys sent in their WA gurnseys. Was very funny

Found the answer to my own question on the SANFL web site...

For those that are interested, here are the reults:

STATE YOUTH MATCH – SATURDAY, MAY 23
The U20 State Team notched up a 25-point victory in last Saturday’s State Youth Match against the McDonald’s U18s State Squad.

With the U18s winning only one State Youth Match since 2000, it was always going to be a tough task coming up against a full-strength U20s side.

However, the McDonald’s U18s State Squad came out firing, registering the first three goals of the match. The U20s team was able to steady through the great work from Sturt midfielders John McDonald and Matthew Jaensch.

The U18s withstood a charge in the third quarter and remained a chance of snatching an unexpected win at three-quarter time. Coach Brenton Phillips challenged his U18s to finish the game well and although the players were unable to reduce the lead to fewer than 19 points, they showed some great signs heading into the NAB AFL U18 National Championships this week.

The final score showed the U20 State Team 25-point winners over the competitive McDonald’s U18 State Squad. The SANFL would like to thank the Woodville-West Torrens FC for its assistance with the U20 State Team.

U20 State Team 15.14.104
McDonald’s U18 State Squad 12.7.79

McDonald’s U18 Best Players:

Does anyone from the live scores thread want to take back their words about Dabrowski now. SA 43 hitouts to WA 21. Didn't Dabrowski ruck the majority of the day.

Well, if you want to come on here and dig the boots in, it might pay to get your facts right first

I guess when your state was totally outclassed by SA last year, it's fair enough that you have a selective memory ;)

Not that it is in important, but an undermanned SA was beaten by a better side on the day and while it doesn't matter who lays the claim to the best state league outside the AFL, I sleep better at night knowing that last time we played the great Big V, we pumped them by 10 goals 8)
