Thanks to some assistance from my newly recruited "field researchers" over at the Centrals forum, we have another addition to my ongoing list:
From: "Spot" on Centrals forumHere's another.
Page 92 of today's (Thursday April 10) Advertiser, picture of Justin Westhoff tackling what the newspaper says is Ryan Williams, when it is in fact Daniel Boyle.
How many is that now, they just keep giving us ammunition!
Great work Spot, appreciate the help of others in this my ongoing crusade to show SOME people in the media how INCOMPETENT they are. Keep up the good work field researchers, it is much appreciated !!!
We now have a new entry in at 8, interestly it involves 2 young Centrals player, well 3 actually !!?
8. THE ADVERTISER - Page 92: "Faltering Forwards" Thursday April 10 2008Had a quick read of this article late tonight (after a prick of a day at work !!) and thought it was well written, emphasising the lack of potency Port Power forwards have shown in the first three weeks. My initial thoughts were, naturally, that Chocco should drop Westty back to Centrals for just a few games (well actually 3 so he qualifies for finals !!?) to get a bit of form back.
It went onto to talk of the other struggling forwards and had little inset pictures of the players in mention with their stats comparison from 2007. The main picture was of young Justin at full stretch applying pressure through a strong diving tackle and the little 'descriptive' inset starts off well with an appropriate title of "Putting everything into it:". A very appropriate comment of the action captured by the photographer, listed underneath as Callum Robertson.
The caption goes onto to state that the tackle by Westty is on his fellow Centrals team mate, Ryan Williams. SORRY, WRONG... As I'm sure you can see yourselves, it IS NOT Mr Williams at all and is in actual fact, another Doggies listed player, in Port Rookie DANIEL BOYLE !!? Come on Advertiser, if you are going to write good articles, finish it off by knowing who the players are and listing them correctly, PLEASE PEOPLE.
The reason I mentioned the photographers name above is that it begs the question as to who is to blame for these BLATANTLY OBVIOUS errors or lack of knowledge. I'm interested in knowing who actually picks the players out of the snap shots and identifies them before going to print. Does the photography note who it is they have taken a shot of, then pass it onto the journo ? Maybe the so called "professional" gets the pic from the 'snapper' and then in their infinite wisdom make their judgement or assumption as to who the player is ? Or is it a case of a little bit from both ?
I would just have thought that if these guys are supposed to be the "experts", then surely they would know who the players are ? I know there are a lot of players in a "squad" these days and annually there are fresh and new faces, but all they have to do is look at the clubs web site or even the team photos the papers themselves release. Surely with todays technological advances the journos can use these resources as easy identification tools. Actually, don't go by the names in posters printed in the paper, they have proven to get these wrong in the past as well !! ?
Look forward to more entries in the coming days. The way things are going, I reckon a might be bringing up my "ton" by the end of the season !! Come on jounos, lift your bloody game !!?? I'm gonna keep posting these ERRORS and I will send it to them at the years end... !!!??
