like the previous 2 meetings this year i expect glenelg to win, not just hope we will win like the majority of blues fans, confidence and momentum is important at this time of the year and i know we only drew yesterday but against the eagles on their dung heap is a reasonable result compared to being 50pts up and blowing it, GO THE TIGES!!!!

Ricky was there yesterday Mickyj. Was chatting to a few of our ressies boys when I walked passed.

I think Sturt can beat Glenelg. I would never have thought they would get out to a 50 point lead to North, but they did. Sturt have also had their eye on finals for a long time whereas Glenelg have made a late season charge so I expect Sturt to be up for this game, despite missing the double chance.

good observation aerie, is that maybe the reason why they are faltering though? i just hope we dont do a centrals of 82 who after beating everyone to make the finals were unceremoniously creamed by an unfancied glenelg outfit in the elimation final of that year - the same scenario central were the form team going in and the bays were struggling going into that game a bit like next week

Last year was the exception for Sturt, not 2007

I agree with your last line there Hondo. I'd just been thinking the same thing myself recently.
The line: "geez look what we did this year compared to pre-season expectations" ... still rings true though. But I think now is not the time for it, we still have a hope in 2007 and shouldn't be resting on such weak laurels when there is so much still to achieve.
I am hoping we kick on from here, and I am bitterly disappointed about what happened at the Adelaide Oval against North. The enormity of losing from that position has sort of softened the blow if we were to go down to the Bays this weekend. It is hard to imagine a more hollow feeling than I have right now, I reckon I'll still be feeling numb when it is time to catch up on the Elimination final.
Come on YOU BLUES! I wish I were in Adelaide for this match, win, lose or draw. We need to salvage something from the latter part of this year after promising so much.

For some reason Sturt supporters are not allowed to mention our injuries (like Torrens could in the middle part of the season when many of their guns were out) but I'll wait to see who hobbles out onto the ground before I make any definitive prediction. All things being equal however I'd rate our chances - finals are a different kettle of fish.

Well North fans weren't allowed to in the finals last year when we were playing first gamers every week and missing players like Howard and still only going down by less than 2 kicks in the Prelim.
Same rule for everyone surely?

I'm not sure we'll see Sturt1 to "rip [him] a new one" if the opposite to "Sturt will win" occurs....we'll be magnanimous in victory....not that it is guaranteed (that Glenelg will beat Sturt)...

I rekon that injuries did cost North last year for sure - the greater sin though was that AJ played a couple of them in the finals !!!

I just hope we dont do the same thing and play injured players in the elim final !!!

With the form Glenelg's in, and Sturt freefall end to the season, I think Glenelg will win.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

I hope glenelg players aren't logging on to read this stuff, the more I think about this game the more I get nervous.

If we take Sturt lightly we will get beaten, shoulders to the wheel boys shoulders to the wheel. We have done NOTHING so far except give ourselves the opportunity to play finals. No point making them if you are going to waste the opportunity.

We are going to need four quarters of hard determined footy to beat Sturt.

Yep - Sturt were very impressive on Friday night for a side that was undermanned in some key possies. Should be a cracker of game with either side capable of winning.

Um .... I was a bit fired up by Sturt1 when I wrote that it sounds harsher than I meant it to.

Plus, you have my genuine sympathy having to use that avatar! :)

But, I checked later and Sturt have only missed the finals twice in the last 11 seasons so this year is not so amazing and nothing to rest your laurels on as you say. Sturt have shown that they are capable of beating anybody this season.

Finally we see a humble side. Good going hondo71.

As long as McGowan doesn't make the same mistake again, by showing the Sturt boys the db.org forum at half time, I think Sturt will have a real chance.

From a North perspective, I think Glenelg is the one team of the other four that we would like to see the back of this year.

Go Sturt

The mighty Bays go into this game overwhelming favourites. Sturt are a rabble and will present no challenge. As the undoubted form team in the comp you're playing unbelievable football boys. Say, you're doing so well you could certainly afford to rest Macca, Mouse and who needs Douglas anyway! Let's face it, you simply deserve to win Bays, congratulations! It's your year fellas.
