According to Slavin, South were the only club to vote NO last night
Stephen Trigg & Rob Chapman are SA Football Patriots

may I enquire as to what benefits the club put forward to you members for voting yes??

I sum it up that basically the Sanfl clubs are scared of the consequences of the crows playing anywhere else but Sanfl , loss of revenue, tv , news media etc

Yeah, I'll really be upset when that 15 seconds highlights package focussing solely on AFL-listed players is dropped from the Saturday evening news bulletin. How will the SANFL ever survive without it?

Slaven's speech tonight was basically a justification for caving in, based on fear and false assumptions. He said that WWTFC would suffer if the Crows had reserves in the amateur league. His reason for voting yes was that the club would try and use the Crows to boost their junior membership etc. He referred to the fact that he believed it important that there be a 'nexus' between the SANFL and the Crows. However he kept saying that he 'didn't know' how it would all pan out, and admitted that many of the predictions, such as Chapman's prediction that the Crows would get 4,000 every week, were impossible to be sure of at this stage.

Slaven argued that we should not reject change, but in the end he did not really explain why this would be a positive for the club or why we needed to do this. While he did not tell any obvious outright untruths, little of what he said was relevant or reason enough to do something which could seriously threaten the short and long term viability of the club. I sincerely apologize on behalf of my club to all the real SANFL supporters on this site for whom the SANFL is set to be forever sullied by the presence of the VFL reserves teams...

I continue to be amazed how clubs can make a decision on their and the leagues future without it being sanctioned by the membership... clubs are run by the board for the board and they don't give a rats about the fans that keep it afloat.

Agree 100%. Appalling that Sturt (and a few other clubs) haven't even bothered to arrange an Q+A session. At least pretend that you're listening to your members..

Weak as piss board, at least. I don't think that there is great support for this amongst members, but what do we matter?

At least in the merger Torrens were in financial difficulties, and whatever your ideas on toughing it out, there was at least some reasons in favour of merging. That is a whole other can of worms. However, as has been said many times, we do not need to accept the current proposals from the AFL teams. We can say no. We will be a stronger competition for it, and not a weaker one. My club in particular is in a relatively sound financial position. It is as if the AFL clubs are holding us to ransom, but instead of holding a gun to our head, they are holding a banana.

Agree, it will be interesting to see how far and quick the yes voters move through the ranks.

Sounds like it got all too hard and it was easier to rollover and say Yes rather than do the hard work to live without the AFL umbilical chord .

Which is what I suspect my club will do BTW.

Did anyone question Slaven about how much of the supporter base he feels they may lose to the Ravens.

I would think the Eagles are one of the clubs to be hit by this the hardest.

I'm sure Sturt were out front pushing the yes vote, blinded by the fiver Adelaide dropped on the ground before them. It's disgraceful.

My club will fold due to this decision.
