Not sure if it has been mentioned before but numerous clubs are talking to former saint Robert Eddy. Westies have offered him an attractive package that i believe has raised a few eyebrows with other clubs regarding his proposed 'role' at the club that would be attracting a healthy pay packet.

Think you will find that Tommy is training to become a Starforce Officer for SAPOL and therefore cannot commit to a full time football SANFL training schedule. Dont think he will be playing football at all next year.....Had a cracking year for the mudlarks in 2011 and was top 5 in the Mail medal. in the best players for State Country team against WA. A super talent that south once again didnt want to invest in...

As well as the fact the Double Blues have a strong contingent of Aboriginal lads playing there - Johncock, Anderson, Sharples, Cubillo, Tambling etc.

LOL ... But the Roosters' ruck stocks have taken a hit with Cain Ackland confirming his SANFL retirement.

How so?

Because he is a good player and South seem happier to give opportunities to blokes from other states for the $$$$
why not offer a few extra dollars to 5 or 10 locals that are up to the standard and keep them around.
Train 4-5 nights a week and bust your ass for $75 a reserves game and get the odd opportunity in the league side how long would u stick around for...?

In 2010 he played 9 of the last 10 games in the seniors and from what i believe the club was disappointed he didn't go around again 2011. Very hard worker on the track apparently.

No questios he has been a stand-out player in the bush this year, but when a fringe player in the bottom side on the ladder demands the club pay him big bucks or he's leaving, I applaud the Club for standing firm, and not letting the players dictate like they were known to allow in the past. The Club went from 9th (with him) to 4th this year, so I don't think they'd be loosing too much sleep.

On a positive note I understand Denis Iljecsen (or however you spell it) has put his hand up to come back to the Club for minimum chips. Another gun country player that has never been, and proabably never will be a star at SANFL level, but an honest goer that has a good attitude, and doesn't put demands on the club for unrealistic money.
