I still think Trev Hill should get alot of applause for setting up the foundation to Norwoods flag IMHO.

It's quality posts like this that make the flag even sweeter.

Well done to the Legs BUT that has 2B the most disappointing Grand Final, & finals series of games in SANFL history.
I couldnt believe Norwoods support, they must have had at least 85 - 90% spectators at the game.

SANFL now has to understand that the AFL grand final is the full stop on the football season, & move the SA Grand Final 2 weeks back to the AFL preliminary final weekend.

By being after the AFL we get to showcase our League to the rest of Australia. Besides a lot of locals will go to the GF because it IS the last taste of footy for a year.
To me football IS SANFL not AFL so the last game should be our GF. Don't want to compete with the AFL finals either.

I know it drags out the footy season but I agree I like it after the AFL GF. Also tend to get great weather, I cant remember the last GF that had poor weather.

I don't think the rest of the country will be putting thier weekends on hold to watch the GF but the South Oz expats might be, and for those who follow the teams playing. Considering the average crowds during the year, I think 30,000+ turn out for the GF these days means there is alot of interest in the SANFL.

Why was it the most disappointing series of finals games? Any finals series has it's intrigues and stories and sub-plots, and as far as spectacles go, sure, the 2nd semi and GF weren't great, but there was nothing wrong with the rest of the finals IMO.

As far as finishing before the AFL, no way - from the 30000 GF Crowd thread:

Does any one think if this is the case it will have a negative effect on the crowd we'd get to a SANFL Grand Final?

Really good crowd on Sunday, against the flow of what the rest of the season crowds were like and the somewhat negative publicity towards the Grand Final before hand.

PS. Wouldn't need to start the season 2 weeks earlier if they didn't have so many byes! Go back to three weekends off per club instead of the 5 we had this year!

Absolutely it would. The number of amatuer and country GF's, presentation nights, celebrations, etc that are on the weekend before the AFL GF would have a reasonable impact. In today's environment not too many are going to put their SANFL club before their local club, no matter how much we wish it. Having it when we do gives these people a chance to go along, so it's a win-win for footy all round, but perhaps not for how the AFL want it to be.
