My intent was more to do with avoiding the spoon rather than making the finals!!

Thought the Eagles were pretty good yesterday, if they can hold that form then they're my tip to finish 5th, and be a legitimate danger in the finals.

Seen them twice this year JK and it appears as though the effort drops away pretty quickly at times. They would have been set up for challenging the top team yesterday, then they'll drop a game to fellow teams out the 5. Nowhere near consistent enough.

Yeah granted it was a big "if", but they really looked good at times yesterday and I still find it hard to believe they would go through the season without having a decent run of form.

We keep saying it every week but imho this week really IS their Grand Final.

If they were to lose to Sturt, with South and North playing each other they would essentially be 3 games (taking into account %) out of the 5 with 5 games left. From that point even winning their remaining 5 games may not be enough for them to make finals.

I think both Central and Norwood will be extremly glad if the Eagles miss out on the finals. They generally lift come finals and have enough top end talent to beat anyone on their day.

Form has meant stuff all for the teams sitting between 5th and 9th so trying to pick a winner based on form more than likely wont help. Rock, Paper, Scissors for me.

Geeezzz is there still a heartbeat remaining in the Eagle season after a win at Unley ysterday. Still only 1 game out of the top 5. How much will the double byes across round 18 and 19 hurt us though. With games against North, Port and Sturt still ahead who we are fighting for the 5th spot with I guess anything is possible.

Would need 10 wins with our percentage. If things go our way, perhaps 9 wins might just scrape in there. That would require winning the remaining 5 games (or if very lucky, one loss, four wins). There has been nothing to suggest this is going to happen. Would need some magic beans over the two week break.

I just hope we see more of what we saw in the 2nd half yesterday as opposed to the 2nd quarter.

It appears as though the double bye has really hurt us. Now 2 games and massive percentage game behind 5th spot. We would need to win all remaining 5 games left to be any chance. Guess the only thing we should be hoping now is to avoid it being our worst win/loss record in club history which stands as 6-14 in 1997 and our worse ladder position which was 8th in 1995 which strangely came off the back of a Grand Final appearance the season before.

All teams have the same amount of byes. Like us, you simply haven't won very many games this year.

I realise that. I was referring more to the timing of the double bye. As you said had of we won enough games it wouldn't be an issue.

They're baaaaaaacckk.

A remarkable effort, very similar to the Raiders in the NRL who were 2nd bottom at the half way point of the season and are now into the 2nd week of the finals, similar colours too!
