Copy-and-pasted from SL.org:

I had heard that the club had called upon the Jetty Rd traders to deck the place out in Black and Gold. Today I took the kids for a stroll down the northern side of Jetty Rd from the Bay Junction to Dymocks while their mum did the shopping. Only a handful of traders appear to have embraced the concept:

- Phil Hoffman travel, lots of black and gold and Tigers logos everywhere.
- Bank SA, a "GO TIGERS" display in the window.
- that healthy-wrap take-away place on the corner of Nile St had a signed Tigers guernsey up on the wall; don't know if it was specifically there for the finals or is always there.
- The Ivy Room boutique had a whole bunch of black and gold themed fashion and accessories in their window with a few logos
- the florist on the corner of Partridge St had a home-made football fashioned out of some brown organic matter with a black and white photocopy of the Tigers logo stuck to it. Truly surreal.

There may be other traders getting into the spirit, but it ain't obvious. More concerning is the fact that the trees are dressed up in red and white spotty fabric.

I remember the good old days when every other shop in Marion would be decked out in black and gold leading up to the Grand Final. It seems those days are long gone. :(

Sad that the kids of today wont get that experience, particularly during Grand Final week, where entire suburbs were decked out in the colours of their local footy teams.

I remember during mid & late 80's both Glenelg & Marion Medicare Offices were decked out with streamers and balloons, with the staff wearing guernseys loaned to them from Glenelg's Sportslover store.

No way known would any red & white have been seen on Jetty Rd back then

Ahhhh those were the days.

I used to love that when you'd go to a particular area where one of the clubs was based and it'd be decked out in the team colours, sadly it seems to have gone by the wayside over the years.

I think the problem is that there'd be many traders who don't follow the Bays or some who dont even like football. The days where you lived in the area and barracked for the local club are long gone.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Fair go - if they waited until a game in which the Bays were dead certs, we wouldn't see any colour on Jetty Rd until the Bays play at Alberton next year... :p

Glenelg kept under the radar all year, kept things very low key and then the council go and deck out the Bay

And the "black" looked sort of a dark chocolate brown on TV during the match.
I'm not sure whether it was an illusion caused by the contrast with the Navy blue of Norwood.
