There are a lot of things you don't seem to realise are different between the AFL and the SANFL Benny ;)

With SANFL people not used to Adelaide Oval

and Adelaide Oval not used to SANFL .... in particular very few having pre-purchased tickets.

Teething problems were always likely (we had a couple with media centre access), hopefully fixed for next week.

What did they do for the Anzac Day game Phil? Similar crowd size.

Felt like a lot more for week 2 than week 1, yet only 1300 extra or so. Guess I'm not much of a judge.

Would have hoped for more - but a very tough timeslot with national league finals on through the day.
This normally would have been the qualifying/elimination final weekend in the past.

Plenty of people must have got passouts that went to the 2nd game from the people leaving the first game, like I did last week.

It actually would be the 1st week of finals this week.

Thanks for those numbers, had been trying to find them!

Interesting, apart from 2008 which I remember well as Glenelg's first year in the mix in a long time, it really crashed after 2004! That 2005 number is a shocker, and interestingly involved Port!

Yesterday's crowd not mind blowing, but really pretty reasonable. South do not have a huge following and the days of thousands of nutrals jumping on a bandwagon and going along, as happened with Woodville in 1986, are gone unfortunately.

I reckon 30 thousand on Sunday!

2005 was an horrendous day weather wise.

I disagree regarding yesterday's crowd. I thought that it was really poor and so did the SANFL. They were expecting a lot more.

It was a beautiful day, some neutrals I know went to support South and yet the crowd was 2,000 less than North and Norwood drew on Anzac Day.

The SANFL were expecting almost a full house for the Grand Final and accordingly weren't going to hand out all of the free tickets like they have over the last few years but they may have a rethink after yesterday's disappointing crowd.

They usually do a reasonable distribution across community clubs, school footy teams and auskickers

I have mine big Phil and I'm looking forward to the spectacle of sitting amongst 40,000 watching a good old fashioned Port v Norwood stoush.

As you are a man of wisdom what your guess on the crowd.

I think you mean the other Phil :)

At this point estimate around 35,000 but I want to see the media coverage and weather forecast a few days out before getting too specific.

What 50,000+ to an SANFL Grand Final in this day & age? I find that very hard to believe.

My prediction for the crowd 31,417

That is what they were expecting after getting over 36,000 at the despised Football Park last year. Until the weekend they were thinking at least mid 40s this year.

I was surprised when it was mentioned that 1999 was less than 40,000. I thought that some of the later 1990s Grand Finals did get close to full houses.
