Ordinary performance by Eagles. South far too fast and hit targets. We were under pressure the whole time so made many errors.
Cant understand why you kick across the ground when you are kicking with a 6 goal wind?? How about to wards the forward line.
Big improvement required already

Bit rusty as expected but had a few touches. His handball was good but kicking ordinary. Couldnt really jump to much, two right in front of me he barely got 10 centimetres off the ground. On that performance, wouldn't think he would play round one for the Power IMO

Had a bit of a chat with him tonight, seemed like a good bloke for a Port player ;)

From my perspective:

SA 17.6
WWT 7.13

Goals: Eddy 4, Wundke Snook 3, Mckernan Shaw 2, Rolfe Brooksby Ah Chee 1

Cross and Liddle played a half. Mckernan and Dowdell same.

Miller was reported for what looked a front on collision.

All played well. Lost some discipline in the last two quarters and will probably not be so lucky during the season. Game was closer than the margin. Eagles missed some very gettable goals. Ainger played a half (caused us trouble) and Grocke did not play.

Eddy looks great and plays with spirit. Snook took his opportunity well. Rolfe took no sh1t and a 20 player brawl ensued. Gotch terrific in the middle and looks very fit.

Reserves lost by a similar margin and were at times uncompetitive but finished sronger than they started. .

Yep. Normally I'm worried by our "good" trial form. I think this year we have to ensure that we start as we mean to finish.

I remember an 8 goal win (two late goals prevented it being a 10 goal win) against Centrals at Elizabeth in the last trial last year, it bode well for a top six finish....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

IF both sides go out at full strength and play their hardest then it means everything. Rare I know.

March cups are more frequently won by teams that finish in the lower half the year before. However, if you use them to improve then they are as beneficial as you make them. If none of them served that purpose, the clubs wouldn't have them.

That's right ... It's more to do with game plans, giving players opportunity to show their wares, team structures, etc. doesn't matter whether they win or not.

Agreed

Port beat West by over 20 goals in a trial last year at Alberton, we made finals, they didn't

What a shocking game for an Eagles fan .But it was their first game of the year .
I got to noarlunga before the seconds started the wind going to the "Adelaide" end was something like a 5 to 7 goals advantage .
Eagles seconds took advantage .But kicking to the other end was shocking although Eagles seconds scored well into it in the second quarter.
Notable player returning was Allmond and he should play league soon .Another good player was an APY lands boy although he kicked 2 goals 5 he could get drafted next year .Lots of juniors played well!!
The league side fell down everywhere but mainly up forward though Ainger showed a bit .
Really though a hell of a lot of work to do Eagles but its only March !.

Hmm I will go out on a limb based on the North vs. Port trial and suggest that Port will not make the finals and North will.

If not for North fielding a heap of new guys, the "rusty" skills and the swirling wind then Port would have been thrashed yesterday. Hard to find any positives for the "Power" Ressies but they may come out and make a fool of me come end of the minor round but I doubt it!
