To any true Redleg fans who were whingeing about Flipper getting cleaned up by Ian Callinan do us all a favour, please get over it, it was nothing more than a good, solid hip & shoulder bump which is a part of any football competition other than the AFL. We had our chances in the last quarter but weren't good enough to take them & can only hope that the defeat drives us on to bigger & better things in 2011. Congrats to the Doggies who continue to be the benchmark which the rest of us strive to achieve.

provided the ball is within 5 meters, their elbows are tucked in and there not a foot in the air. eg, Callinan on Phillips

I agree with you Dutchy

No doubt the Dogs deserve the premiership, but the fact that a young Norwood side that started the season 0-4 almost snatched it from them has made a few feel a tad threatened here. It wasn't exactly the clinical Centrals that we've all come to admire, put it that way. But I get the feeling that everything has to be perfect, even if it wasn't...let them think so..

yep, zero metres will do. I've been calling for years for my team's players to crack some skulls (fairly of course)...about time it happened, if you can get away with it.

May not get the chance, Callinan said on the news tonight he was going to re-nominate for the draft. After his BOG performance in the GF, which would have been in front of most, if not all AFL club scouts, he may have enhanced his chances of being a mature age recruit?

what would happen if he was to get suspended for his fair bump on Phillips

would he miss the games in the AFL next year.

The Apostle AK wrote:The only complaint I got with the Grand Final umpiring was that holding the ball against Norwood in the first quarter that resulted in a Dogs goal kicked by Callinan (IIRC!)...that umpire stood there like a statue for what seemed like 10 seconds before he paid "holding the ball"...you know you're in trouble when the umpire doesn't immediately call "ball up" but instead stands there like a statue looking at the contest but, sheesh, he took friggin ages to call it!!!...

Agree that was a shocker, and the ump could clearly see Callinan was holding the ball under the Norwood player.

Question regarding the celebrations at HHO, why dont they hold them on the Oval?

It's actually a cost issue, much easier and cheaper to clean up a car park than to get the oval back into shape........fact.

Well not Callinan in particular...any Dogs player...Time for the rest of the comp to make a bee-line for them and...hit them...well not hit them, maybe smash them, fairly of course ;)

I reckon that's a bit rough whufc and after you've come down from your celebrations, you might think so too.

Thought it was a good, hard and fair bump.
Something allowed in our great competition.

The soup reference is pretty ordinary at best.

WHUFC. You have no class and your opinions would not be shared by IC. Wingnut would never text something like that as he has class. The fact that you seem to have enjoyed a fine young footballer like Simon Phillips having his jaw broken and the subsequent pain and general difficulty it causes a bloke with their life is an embarassment to you and lets down your club. All the Dogs supporters i met on Sunday showed at least some humility in victory. I obviously sat no where near you. In 15 pages of this thread your contribution was probably the most moronic.

More than a bit rough. Enjoy the win whufc, but your texting comment was way out of order.
