I think we are in for some interesting times.

Maybe Centrals will get within 20 goals of their oppostion as they can't at the moment!

We won the Under 15's metro championship this year Wedgie, so it's not all doom and gloom for the Dogs underage program...

yeah, hasnt been good for Centrals Juniors, but in the 17's thier playing a very young side that are probably 18mths away from being competative. Sturt, North, Glenelg have some very handy big, solid players who have been in the system for a while now.
There is about 16 players playing 19's that are eligable to play 17's and the reserves have majority of the 19's.
Next year could be different with the U/18's coming in & with Central winning the championships.
The SANFL needs to restructure the zones to make it an even playing field cause Central has stuff all.

2 players from Centrals U15's side played 19's on the weekend (at least one of them isn't even 15 yet) and off the top of my head more than half of the 17's side was made up from the U15's Metro and Country sides.

Underage footy tends to be a bit cyclic in nature andit seems the wheel is slowly turning back out at Elizabeth.

Do Centrals suggest that their 17's play soley for them on a weekend ? From what I saw in the NEMJFA comp this year Salisbury West & North had their Dogs squad players available nearly every week, some of them playing up to three games on a weekend. Port suggest very strongly that their squad drop their local clubs & just play for The Pies, likewise North I believe.
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.

That would achieve stuff all, I doubt any clubs would be that stupid, if they are it would make for a a ridiculous decision.

Yes we do suggest, in fact enforce, that the play for just us in a given weekend. There have been a few players disciplined this season for going back to their local clubs after playing for us on a Saturday.

What is being planned by some clubs is having some U16s games beyond the limited official program. There is no rebellion for Darth Vader to squash.

Page 114 of Today's Advertiser:

"FOUR SANFL clubs have opened talks about running their own breakaway junior competition next year as the fallout over the league's new under-age structure continues."

Toldya this Sunday Ian & 1980 Tas and you didn't believe me. 8)

*sigh*

And the "breakaway competition" is merely going to be playing U/16 games when the official season finishes. I.e. we will keed giving our U/16s experience and development at that level in an elite club environment, we won't just stop when the SANFL says stop.

And you know what? Talented 16 yo (i.e U/17s) who have been squeezed out of the U/18 competition due to lack of opportunities might get a few games too.

ML The Advertiser never sensationalises a story or issue it is a vestige of truth and understatement...

Bottom line clubs who voted agaisnt the proposal are looking at how they can continue their development programs within this new system. Mind you expect changes within 5 years.

keep fishing....

Come on big fella. My point is I said it would happen (a group of four sanfl clubs proposing a rebel league) you said it was rubbish and you were wrong. Simple as that!

It isn't a rebel league though. Stop looking for fires where there are none.
